What do you call an egotistical person?

For English class, I need to call someone egotistical, though not in that tense. Here's the sentence, though I've replaced the word I need with psycho.

I don't like him one bit. He's a psycho.

would the word be egotist?

if you use "a" then he IS an egoist.
