Should I vote for a 3rd party candidate?

http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/gyrobase/Conten...

" I have many Republican friends who are disgusted that I'm voting third party this election year. They believe stopping Barack Obama from becoming president outweighs all else. Meanwhile, I have many Democrat friends who are equally disgusted; for them, seeing John McCain defeated is more important than who wins. They are all wasting their votes.

Imagine a reckless teenager who constantly runs up his parents' credit cards, smashes the family car every Friday night, is failing in school, and has serious drinking and drug problems. Now imagine that no matter how reckless and dangerous that teenager became, his parents believed his behavior was worth tolerating simply because he was "their" kid. No reasonable person would consider this good parenting.

And yet this is exactly how otherwise reasonable people vote.

No matter how bad the Republican or Democrat nominee for president is, the party faithful support their own without fail. The message to politicians? They may lie, ignore their party's platform, and betray every supposed principle, but they will never be held accountable by most voters. Like the reckless teenager, there is simply no reason for them to stop their irresponsible behavior."

I agree with Mr. Hunter that I shouldn't behave like an irresponsible parent...can anyone here tell me otherwise?

You are sticking to your principals! Good for you! I haven't seen anyone in the 3rd party that fits my ideals,so as usual, I will pick the person that I believe will take the best care of this country, I can take care of myself.

    That's a great analogy.

Anyway, if you clearly like one of the major party candidates more than the other one, you should vote for that candidate. If they make no difference to you (i.e. the issues you care about all fall into that 90% where Obama and McCain agree with each other (or just haven't talked about at all)), you should definitely place your vote behind a third party that better fits your views.

Many of us want to throw the bums out, but If you are in one of the "battleground" states, you should seriously consider the two before making a statement by voting for a 3rd party.

but if you are in CA or other "given state vote for Bob Barr by all means!

How could you afford not to??? With the shape the republOCRATIC politicians(magicians!) have left our America in, WHO can afford them??? As far as I am concerned both the DNC & GOP are dead meat. I mean out of the whole house we got one congressman, Ron Paul, that stands FIRMLY with the printed words of our founding fathers.

When election time comes my GOP/DNC politicians(magicians!) are not receiving my vote. I mean ***WHO*** in God's green acres could do a WORSE job as our supposed representatives than our current DNC/GOP politicians?

I pray that enough of us follow suit & fire these "lackies" once & for all. Even then they will cost us as they draw their retirements they did not earn. These politicians(magicians!) should have charges brought up on them for treason, dereliction of duty, graft/corruption, incompetence & impersonating a Constitutional based representative of & for the people of the United States of America.

Source(s): The shape the DNC/GOP left our America in!!!
