Is this a good christians attitude?

Another user sent me this message recently. She has her emails blocked so I can't respond to how wrong she is. So is this the loving christian attitude I've been hearing so much about?

"Subject: You dumb *bag

Message: What do you mean we christians are "ruining the world"? Oh wait, I know. You want a * death-filled world. Where people get shot and killed every second, where gang violence and murderers happen EVERY day, and where pain and sorrow crowd the world. You want to live with that??? Well, you atheists are stuck up, self-centered lozers that are hopeless and lost. That must suck that you won't be able to feel God's loving hands, but you get to feel Satan's firey foot. Congrads dumb *!!!

*s are words I edited. Yahoo wouldn't let me get away with that amount of swearing.

I am Catholic and if I did that my priest would have me in his office so fast I would get air sick. As you know, in America we have a shortage of priests. Our priest is from Africa. We can not imagine all he has seen coming from such a hostile country. I do not have any knowledge that Africa is overflowing with Atheists, but the genocide continues. It's not Christians or Atheists or some other word we can use to distance ourselves from the horrors that human beings are suffering. Human beings commit atrocities against other human beings for the sake of dominance. Anything thing proclaimed otherwise is just self righteous justification and self delusion to escape accountability for their actions, across the board no matter what the belief system is. I am Catholic and I believe the teachings of my faith. I am a human being and am ashamed of what human beings are doing to each other. May God help us realize this so that the human race may change before it is too late....

The attitude is wrong but many of the questions are valid. To all the believers, see how well the insulting of others as was done here doesn't work to bring others to faith.

    Allow me to restate.

Are Christians really ruining the world? The alternative, a death filled world, that we are heading towards, where gang violence and murder happen every day, and pain and sorrow fill the world, this is a much worse option.

I would probably stop with that, maybe adding a note regarding the price of non-belief, as opposed to loving God.

Of course not...It seems to me that you are holding a Christian's attitude in higher regard than a "normal" person though. Why is that? If religion is just "mind control" and a "delusion" as so many atheists claim, then why the higher standards for the "delusional"? Could it be, deep down, that you know what they are saying is truth and you respect Christians that try to live a good and holy life? I would never condone such an email. It is from somebody who doesnt resemble Christ in any way. Hopefully this person reads your question and apologizes for acting in such an un-Christian manner.

    Yes,

Unfortunately even Christians have a nasty little way of displaying their lack of understanding for those with different opinions.

She is unable to understand that like herself, you are entitled to your opinion.

My biggest concern is that somehow she believes that the world is all milk and honey when in fact the things she describes as being of atheism are already happening. What does that mean to her? I'm not so sure she is of a rational and informed nature, and should look for education and information before lashing out at alternative opinions.

She is swearing, which is definitely not very good, and is a poor example for someone who is trying to tell you how much God is important. If she has that kind of demeanor, then she should really try to find her God, and look to him for calm and guidance.

No, I do not believe her behavior is Christian-like as professed by the Bible, but it is Christian-like from what I've seen online and in the news.

    Can you say Reverand Wright?

The short answer is "no." St. Paul says in his Epistle to the Romans: "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." And St. John of Kronstadt wrote, "Let the one who has insulted you that he has not offended you, but only himself. Feel sorry for him because he is so easily overcome by his passions and is spiritually ill." It is a commonplace that, as a Christian, you cannot love G-d if you can't love your neighbor, even if your neighbor disagrees with you or is not particularly lovable. However, please keep in mind something your correspondent forgot: it's a lot harder to live Christianity than it is to talk about it.

Grace be unto you and peace.

Actually, this is a Christian that "snapped". Some of us get tired of keeping the anger built up all the time, and this is what happens when we lose our self-control.

And, personally, I don't blame the ones who do snap. Believe me, I'd love to just come unglued from time to time and really let people who say things like "Christians are ruining the world" have it. It's human nature to get angry when someone insults what you base your life around. But I hold myself back, I turn the other cheek because that's the "right" thing to do. It keeps fights from happening and lawsuits from being filed. But that doesn't mean that I don't feel like letting loose and cussing a few people out from time to time, especially when they're being so intolerant of other people's beliefs.

I do believe she could have handled it better though. There are ways to get to people other than the one she chose. It seems really immature, but that's what you get with blind anger.

Isn't that the world we're living it? What a dweeb.

This user sounds like an awful, immature brat.

She certainly could use some parental discipline (and a dictionary).

Christians are no better than anyone else, and many of us can act in horrible ways, as you can clearly see in that email!

Delete it and forget about it, I say.

No!...to me that sounds like the attitude of an incredibly stupid person that may or may not be sincere in his or her belief in God and Jesus but who obviously doesn't understand the first thing about what he said to us!

    "WOW"

I think the person needs to re-think there statements. They sound as if they are very outspoken, but they could have said the same thing in a much kinder manner.

No wonder she had her email blocked, she knew she was going to get blasted...

My God says, "Walk in love"
