Do people really believe that if a Democrat is president that things will automatically be like Clinton years ?
I mean I think there are several trillion more variables in the economy than that. Like the dotCom boom....which has now gone in a more reasonable direction. I just don't think people are thinking this through. I am downsizing and finding myself a new place and living within my means. I think that the government should do the same...don't you? Getting massivly in debt doesn't sound like the right thing to do....it'd be more fun....right now....but someone would have to pay for it later!

of course not. Where we are now, we have a long road ahead of us. Nothing will magically 'snap' back into place - with EITHER candidate. It'll take lot's of time on many different issues.

No. Not automatically. It took President Clinton 6 years to really get the economy humming. It will probably take Obama even longer. He does not have a magic wand. What he has are common sense policies that support the backbone of this country; the working, middle class!!
The one thing that business owners seem to keep forgetting is that, without us to manufacture, and purchase products and services, there is no business!! We; the embattled Middle-Class, make the products for meagre pay, and then we turn around and purchase the products we made. Sounds like we drive the economy to me?!

This will be the first time in a very long time that Democrats will hold the Presidency and control the House and Senate. Mr. Obama will have to spend his first 4 years repairing the damage of the last 8 years before implementing any truly significant changes. I do, however, believe that he brings a spirit of hope with him that will by itself begin to calm fears and inspire investment in our country, both personal and monetary.

We are already "massively in debt" thanks to the policies of George W Bush. We are in for a very long, difficult recovery from the mess the Bush administration is leaving us. Anyone who thinks that Obama is going to be able to walk in the door of the White House and wave a magic wand to correct all of the terrible things done to this country the last 8 years is going to be disappointed.
But at least we will be heading in the right direction to fix the mess.

Probably some people feel that things will "automatically" be "fixed" if a Democrat is in office. Most of us know that it will take time to fix all the problems the past administration has put this country in. It took eight years to get us in this mess, it will take time and patience for us to hopefully be in a surplus again.

Regardless of who is elected the next president our taxes will rise. Our fate was sealed with all the bailouts. As a reminder there was the $163B “stimulus” package earlier this year, then you had Bear Stearns, AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, $700B (actually ~$867B) bailouts. Now they are talks of a new “stimulus” package to the tune of some $300B. All this free money. That is without adding anything from a new administration.
Also, Reagan had to clean house after Carter was in office.
Now if Obama wins the election and is in office you can throw in an additional 1.2T(rillion) in “new” programs that he has promised and all without raising 95% of the taxpayers taxes. Splain that one.

No.
Most of us are not delusional. But we have to start somewhere and Barack Obama is the man to help us get back on our feet and has the intelligence and the backbone to lead us down the road to recovery and a better future.

Yes I agree... It is a mess and it seems as Bush doesn't care...But why should he? he don't gotta fix it...It will take time to put the deficit back on track, and everthing else that he screwed up..At least we will have a start with a democrat in office to fix Bush' mess,,, Obama 08 yeah!!!

No Reagan left a "house in order" for Clinton.
The next president will inherit a DISASTER from BUSH!
