Do you think its fair that?

Obama is proposing a law making it illegal to use deadly force to defend yourself if someone breaks into your home?

I just wonder how they plan on enforcing such a legislation if that is true? I live in Texas and I don't know anybody that doesn't have at least one gun. My husband and I have 2 guns and a tazer. It isn't because we are a bunch of rednecks. We are realists and we know the dangers and will protect our family using deadly force if necessary. It wouldn't be fair to try and pass that kind of law, but I don't think they are capable of enforcing it either.

Well of course it wouldn't bother him, while he sits surrounded by security in his nice, secure mansion. Meanwhile, those of us living in the real world, with real violence have to suffer.

I am a mother of two, and legal or not I will use whatever I can get my hands on, or my hands, to stop someone from hurting or taking my boys. No one can take that away from me.

Where was Mr. Obama when I am making my kids crawl to there bedroom because there were more gunshots out front?

As far as taking away gun rights, I find it funny that majority of the people against gun ownership don't live in areas where they would need one. My family does not currently own one, but have been considering it in light of a sharp increase in violence and break-ins in our neighborhood.

Yes. That proposal is simply a much needed clarification. It does not --repeat--does not--prohibit using deadly force in self-defense if it's necessary. What it does do is establish standards about what limits exist on the use of force.

It's badly needed. We've all seen some of he recent cases where some homeowner has gunned down a thief who was posing no physical threat. That's not acceptable. A citizen has the right to self-defense. They do NOT have a right to act as judge, jury, and executioner. Doing that is not self-defense. Its murder.

I've seen leftists advocating the use of nunchucks rather than evil guns for home defense. They were serious about it, too. There's something seriously wrong with those people, when they think a home invader should have more rights than the person whose home was invaded.

That's stupid. Of course you should have the right to kill someone if they threaten you. I'm in Canada and we don't have many guns here, but naturally you have the right to defend yourself with a baseball bat or whatever and kill the intruder.

Obama, if President, can't propose a law (he's the Executive branch). That's what Congress does (they make the laws).

Nope. If you're talking about his vote in Illinois, I was appalled by it. If there is a new proposal, I haven't heard about. Doubt he'd be stupid enough to bring up before the election.

That's similar to the laws in Canada.

I don't care what the laws are. If someone is threatening me, I can't afford to wait for some donut quaffing cop to save me.

...I live in a "State" that has what is called the "Castle Law"... (my home is my Castle, and I am its King)... Woe to any IDIOT who breaks into my home... what Mr. Smith doesn't know about home protection, Mr. Wesson does... "O'brainless" won't over turn the State Legislature that has enacted this great Law.
