What are the significant differences between republicans & democrats? In my opinion all politicians are greedy, self-serving crooks but i'm curious to know what exactly is the difference in the 2 parties. I'm still undecided on who i'm going to vote for and I'm feeling like neither candidate is a good choice honestly.

    Republican core beliefs

If you want to vote Republican, you have to believe the following:

Using stem cells for medial research is wrong, because you don't believe in destroying life, even if it lives in a petri dish. But it's OK to destroy larger forms of life in unnecessary wars and prison execution chambers.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.

"Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India, while collecting several more millions for your CEO.

A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay and making wounded soldiers pay for their own meals while recuperating.

Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless you someday run for governor of California as a Republican.

If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

HMOs, insurance companies, drug manufacturers and power plants all have the interest of the public at heart.

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in public schools.

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to start a war is solid defense policy.

Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages, banning teaching of evolution, compelling public prayer and censoring the Internet.

The public has a right to know about Hillary Clinton's cattle trades and private health care meetings, but George Bush's driving record and Dick Cheney's private energy task force meetings are none of our business.

It's justifiable to seal your records if you're a Republican governor of Texas, but not if you're a Democratic governor of Vermont.

You support states' rights, which means the Attorney General can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.

You support states' rights, except when a state decides to recount votes in a disputed Presidential election. Then, it's better for a Republican Supreme Court to decide the election.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what George W. Bush did in the 1980s is irrelevant.

Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is under a Communist dictatorship, but trade with China and Vietnam are vital to a spirit of international harmony.

When a Democratic Presidential candidate wins a 49% plurality in a 3-way race, his presidency isn't legitimate. But when a Republican Presidential candidate receives half a million fewer votes than his opponent in a head-to-head race, he has a mandate for an extremist agenda.

    Democratic Party believes:

•In equal opportunity for all citizens.

•In rewarding honest, hard work with a living wage in a tax system that is fair.

•In family values that are more than a political slogan.

•In quality education that gives all citizens the opportunity to reach their potential.

•In freedom from government interference in our private lives and personal decisions.

•That individual strengths in our diverse population are a benefit.

•In security in our homes and safety on our streets. Criminals should face swift and certain punishment.

•In separation of Church and State to preserve the freedom to pursue our beliefs.

•In a strong United States—morally, economically, and militarily.

•In commonsense reforms that give us cleaner and safer air and water.

A message to each party's supporters:

Democrats: Your party's founder, Thomas Jefferson, is rolling over in his grave at what the party has become. President Jefferson espoused small government and true federalism, leaving nearly every issue other than national defense and diplomacy to the states or the people. The modern party, with its roots in the policies of FDR and President Wilson, actively seeks to expand the welfare state, because people who are dependent on government will keep voting for expanded benefits at someone else's expense.

Republicans: Your party lost its way early on during the Bush Administration. A party that is supposed to espouse small government [who else, since the Dems abandoned it?] instead went along with every big-government (and Big Brother) concept that President Bush proposed. For example, the Medicare drug proposal was a new welfare program; had a Democratic President offered the same proposal to the Republican Congress in 2002, it would have been rejected. Overreactions to 9/11, not just the Iraq war but also Gitmo, have also hurt.

Notice the theme, each party is addicted to power, they just have different ways to get there. Would someone please read the 10th Amendment?

Can we somehow resurrect Jefferson, who truly believed in a small national government? "Come back from the dead, Tom, sock 'em in the head!" [lyric from "I Ain't Gonna p*** in No Jar" by Mojo Nixon]

The United States Of America was formed as a democracy and there was no such thing as a republican party until the people realized that democrats want the government to control your life. Government was causing riots and horrible poverty among the masses just like the dictatorship england that they were trying to get away from so they formed the Republican party which is geared toward letting the people run their lives and not living under government control. Commonly referred to as ( Freedom ).

Realize this If Obama gets into office we will then have a democratic senate and commander in chief, They will pass every and any law or bill that they want. We could possibly see things like the Boston tea party and Prohibition again. Bad News Open your history book and learn from our mistakes. Like anything else ignorance is no excuse Obama.

republicans have ears where as democrats do not listen to negative things about there canidate

ou small business owners out there are preparing for life under a Barack Obama presidency. One of our listeners sent us some new rules for small businesses based on Obama's ideals of change and fairness:

As of November 5, 2008, when President Obama officially becomes president-elect, our company will instill a few new policies which are in keeping with his new, inspiring issues of change and fairness:

    1. All salespeople will be pooling their sales and bonuses into a common pool that will be divided equally between all of you. This will serve to give those of you who are under-achieving a "fair shake".

    2. All low level workers will be pooling their wages, including overtime, into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst you. This will help those who are "too busy for overtime" to reap the rewards from those who have more spare time and can work extra hours.

    3. All top management will now be referred to as "the government." We will not participate in this "pooling" experience because the law doesn't apply to us.

    4. The "government" will give eloquent speeches to all employees every week, encouraging its workers to continue to work hard "for the good of all".

    5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it's "good to spread the wealth around". Those of you who have underachieved will finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had success will feel more "patriotic".

    6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don't feel bad, though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare, free handouts, free oil for heating your home, free food stamps, and he'll let you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can't pay your mortgage. If you appeal directly to our democratic congress, you might even get a free flat screen TV and a coupon for free haircuts (shouldn't all Americans be entitled to nice looking hair?)!!!

If for any reason you are not happy with the new policies, you may want to rethink your vote on November 4th.

Democrats tend to want to help everyone hence more government intervention, while republicans are against more government regardless of the reason...conservative viewpoint. If we allow the government to do this it will lead to other things. the Government should ensure a quaility of life or minimun level where everyone has at least what is needed. Vote Obama

The biggest differences I have found Republicans tend to like smaller government and less social programs (less taxes) they also concentrate more on domestic security. Democrats like big government and social programs more taxes that we all pay for. I prefer to depend on myself more then government

You've already show yourself to be a troll. But let's examine the elements you mentioned: Greedy, Gov. Palin made about 1/3 of what Joe Biden did but gave about 10 times more to charity during the same period of time. Remember the congressman with all the "cold cash" in the refrigerator, must have been one of those abnormal greedy Democrat moments, and Bill Clinton is the poster child for self serving. Still undecided? I doubt it.

    Republicans are morons Democrats aren't.

Republicans want to give tax breaks to big companies Democrats want to give tax breaks to the middle class.

Republicans want to drill for more oil, Democrats want to develop cleaner technology.

Republicans aren't going to stop the war, Democrats are.

Republicans aren't going to fix our economy, Democrats are.

    Republicans are morons Democrats aren't.

Democrats feel it is the governments responsibility to take care of them and everyone else in need. Republican believe it is up to the individual to take care of them self.
