Does anyone really believe "the Complete Jewish Bible" is really a Jewish Bible?
The "Complete Jewish Bible" by David Stern is a fraud--it contains the Old Testament (a mistranslated, reworked version of the Jewish Bible) as well as the New Testament, which of course is exclusively Christian. Thus, the "Complete Jewish Bible" is nothing but a complete fraud. Agree or disagree?
edit to Mike vt: your citation of a deceptive Christian organization masquerading as a Jewish organization reveals that you too have been duped and should serve as a warning to others that they should believe anything you have to say about on this topic. Congratulations.
oops, I meant to say "not believe" in the above edit!

It just astounds me how unutterably arrogant some Christians can be. How on earth can they justify calling this book 'Jewish' when it contains a text, the New Testament, which no-one could EVER pretend was Jewish? Even if they're deluded enough not to realise that the translations from a Christian viewpoint seriously misrepresent the original text, the New Testament really is beyond dispute.
And the big question is - WHY? Why are some Christians so desperate to be identified as Jewish? I'd like to think it was flattering, but it feels far more like colonisation.

I will give most of the same answer I gave earlier today in response to someone who promoted that Christian misnamed Bible.
The Complete Jewish Bible is the TANAKH.
Unfortunately, there is a horridly deceptive and thus invalid from any Torah observant standpoint...Christian Bible of their Old and New Testaments that is titled "The Complete Jewish Bible" so please do not be misinformed if you are seeking to read the REAL Complete Jewish Bible. The Christian Bible titled by David Stern as "The Complete Jewish Bible" is a terribly deceptive technique to attempt to convert Jews, fool other Christians and delegitimize Judaism and the right of the Jewish people to continue self-determination by Jewish law.
Using Hebraisiced terminology for the Christian holy scriptures does not render them to become the Jewish Bible. Renaming the Tanakh the "Old Testament" was disrespectful enough to Judaism, but changing the name of the New Testament to the "B'Rit Hadashah" does not make that a Jewish holy scripture. It isn't one. It also does not render the New Testament more Jewish to change all the names in the New Testament into their Hebrew transliterations.
The person and publishers of a Christian Bible that title it as a Jewish Bible disrespect BOTH religions!
The New Testament that was originally written in Koine Greek and PERHAPS Matthew in Aramaic, was translated into Latin, Syriac and Coptic centuries before they were ever even translated into the Hebrew. However, the language isn't the serious issue, it is the matter of attempting to claim and convince people that doctrines of faith that are FORBIDDEN to the Jewish people in the real Jewish Bible, are a part of the Jewish Bible!
Note that the one answer here that falsely claims it is a Jewish Bible is also promoting the Evangelical Christian organization that deceptively calls itself Jews for Jesus.
No surprise there.

It's not a matter of opinion - it's objective, verifiable ***fact***.
The New Testament is the Christian bible. Anything containing it is by definition, Christian. Not Jewish.
If I produced a version of the Quran, and stuck it in a book with the NT and called it the 'complete christian bible' - would Christians resent it? You betcha.
David Stern is a CHRISTIAN. He is an Evangelical. He is not Jewish, he doesn't speak for Jews, he has NOTHING to do with Judaism.
Shame on AMAZON for selling this fraudulent publication.

I agree, but of course people believe it.
I forget how many decades it's been that we've had the "Jews for Jesus" around being fraudulent about the way they evangelize, but it's evolved into a movement of people who sincerely believe this book is really Jewish. They will post their opinions here and be sincerely hurt that you and I think they aren't Jewish.
And after all this time, I don't care a lot, honestly. Is the point to defend ourselves against Christians claiming they're Jews, or is our effort better spent becoming involved in our own Judaism, teaching it to our children, and living a good Jewish life? So that there are more Jews who know what a Jew is?

answer: I believe it's a fraud, intended to deceive and convert others through lies and treachery. It should be denounced by good Christians, Jews and supporters world-wide.
Why is it that if the deception is to convert someone to Christianity it's okay? Shameful.
J4Jesus are some of the most disgusting of the bunch. Some are misguided, unaware of the damage they're doing. J4Jesus are very aware of what they're doing, from their Baptist founder down to the common member. They are the religious equivalent of the sleazy used car salesman putting oatmeal in a punctured radiator.
Shameful and without honor.

It all comes down to some groups trying desperately to legitimize themselves by association with our Jewish religion.
It will NEVER happen but they keep trying. These are people who would like so much to remove us and our religion from the face of the earth. That too will NEVER happen.

Christians think all sorts of strange things about Judaism, and have done so for nearly 2000 years. Mike's fairy tale version of Christian origins is but one example.
The title is deceitful because it willfully misleads those who are actually seeking to learn about Judaism.

Agree.
When I see 'Jewish' 'Complete' and 'New Testament', I see a BIG contradiction right before my eyes.

Agree.
I wonder what the Christians think. Especially those who have been using it for their source of information on "Jewish" thought and practices.

Agree & it's a misleading title for anyone interested in knowing about Judaism..
