Is it wrong to call myself christian if...?
I wanted to know what you guys think.(its really long but please read and help! and i know i am missing some details but i am trying to make this as short as possible) Is it wrong to call myself Christian if I don't believe everything in the bible/religion(stories)? its kind of hard to explain:
1. I don't believe that God can hate people just cause they are gay. I think its dumb. Isn't he suppose to be all loving? how can he hate? and if he does hate someone just cause of something like that, then how is that love in the first place? is like a mom saying to her kid "I love you but if you don’t do as I say I’m throwing you in the fire place"
2. heaven and hell: ok the story of hell is that an angel (Satan) became greedy and wanted gods power. God banished him from heaven so Satan went down and created hell.
for one: angels are supposed to be pure creations of god. they don't feel Petty emotions like greed/hate/jealousy etc. they are filled with nothing but gods light.
two: god knows everything that he creates. he knows them from the inside out, so he knows your soul etc.
anyway my point is: since angels are so pure how can they become jealous of gods power? and since god created them and created Satan doesn't that mean that he purposely created a 'flawed angel'? since god is suppose to know everything he creates and since angels are suppose to be pure (and having bad emotions is being impure) does that make any sense at all? how can something pure, surrounded by other things that are pure, become corrupt?
3. Adam and eve: the story of this is that god created one man and woman basically out of thin air. and they ended up betraying god by eating from a tree that they weren't suppose to because of a talking snake (Satan) tempted them. ( I’m trying to make this as short as possible). I don’t believe that man just appeared out of no where, there is too much proof saying man evolved from apes. I thought maybe god created man through evolution, but that doesn’t sound quite right either.
I believe that there is something greater out there that created everything else, but I just don’t know what to call myself. Christian? spiritual? please be nice! I’m really confused here. my mom gets really angry when I try to talk to her about it and starts crying cause she raised me to be Christian and I question it. Please help!!! I think its wrong for me to call myself something if I don’t believe it entirely, kind of like a 'fake' or something. Am i thinking too much about it? too critical?
ok maybe hate wasnt the right word to use, but a lot of fellow christians have told me that god hates gays. i know it is sin and to sin against god is to reject god basically... and when i say be nice, please be nice! i cant be the only one who thinks like this?! or something close to it

1- God hates what is bad but wants everyone to turn around and make the changes that he lays down the law. . Just like a parent not wanting their kid to take drugs that are going to hurt him or herself , Jehovah God doesnt want us to do things that are going to make us hurt ourselves.
How is being gay hurtful to ones self you may ask? One if you beilve in God then you may agree with the fact that he knows us best knows what we need since he made us. He made one man and one woman and they were like to pieces of a puzzle that fit each other emotionally and physhically.
With out going in to do much detail phycially man and man were not made to have intimate relationship together, in fact over a period of time they may require surgery for complications invovled in the act of sodomy. God is pretty specific about that act and " man laying with man ' and of course a female with a female. Then you have the emotional aspect. Men were made to stronger ones the providers etc not the weaker sex, the feminenine one.
But being gay as defined inthe bible is among many other things that God doesnt want us to do but like a parent he lets us make up our own mind and we have to face the results no matter what they are.
2- ALl our emotions were given to us by God.The bible says that God is a jealous God and doesnt want us to worship anyone else. Actually god said that himself he also says that he hates what is bad that he IS love not that he HAS love but IS love and we can go throughthe gambit of emotions but what it boils down to is that everything Jehovah God made has /had his traits however he did not make us robots.
He made the angels perfect and he made adam and eve perfect however they had freedom of choice. They choice to do wrong.
3- You say that you have a hard time beilving that we 'sprung out of the air ' (by God creating us) but you beilve in more evolution.
one, its called 'The theory of evolution' so its still a theory. But scientist will argue up and down that its true however they do not have any proof. They try to peddle it as fact but they have no prrof. let me ask you this , is there is proof that we evolved frm apes how come we have not seen another species evolve in modern times or how come scientist cannot provide what even they try to find as 'the missing link'?
Scientist claim that ' we sprung from a single cell organism in the muck and mire' Well where did that first cell come from?
You are not wrong to ask questions it is good that you are, You have alt of valid good questions but you need a bible study to see what the bible really teaches and not what people say is heresay.
Jehovah's wittness do not hate gay people .They view gay people as a person who has things that they need to change if they want salvation. Its not different from being a drug addict or an abuser a sin is a sin is a sin*shrug*
I invite you to look them up in your area for a free bible study on your time schedule ,no obligation , no pressure no tithing.

It sounds as if you are not only struggling with Christianity, but with believing in God in general. What you don't seem to be understanding is that God is all loving and merciful. Remember that God "hates the sin" of the homosexual person, not the individual person. A physician hates the cancer that is eating up the patient, not the patient. The physician does what is possible to heal the patient, but if the patient never seeks help to begin with, how can the doctor go against the patient's will ( "free will" ) and prescribe a necessary solution? "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you."
About the story of Adam and Eve: there have been many different interpretations, but if you read the Book of Genesis straight through (there are 50 chapters total), you will be enlightened about so many things. God not only created man out of thin air, He created the trees that give you shade, the birds of the air and the ground that you walk on out of thin air as well. God is omniscient and omnipotent... He is God. We cannot categorize Him or put Him into a box . Until the day we die, we will find ourselves perplexed over His mysteries, perhaps several times a day.
Your concern about Christianity evolves around God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. God, the God of Abraham, manifested Himself in the form of a human being, so that people could be able to touch Him and relate to Him in a sensory way. We as human beings have always been limited. We need to be able to touch, taste, smell, see and hear in order to believe. We lack strongly in faith.
Heaven and Hell are real. As I am typing this, there are souls rejoicing eternally. Unfortunately, there are also souls who are suffering immensely as you are reading this. Hell is repeatedly mentioned in the Bible, in both the New and the Old Testaments. Remember, angels are creatures which are above humans spiritually, but still, nonetheless, below God. Only God is perfect in purity and love. Anything that is imperfect and impure is cast out of Heaven, and therefore Satan and his comrades had to be thrown out. Once again, going back to free will, it was Satan's ultimate choice. This is where the whole battle began... the battle between good and evil. It continues today. Who's side are you going to be on?
Here's one more thought for you: Did you know that if God chose to stop thinking about you for a split second, you would cease to exist? Just the fact that you are still alive and breathing means that your mission is not yet over. God Bless.

If you do a close examination of the Scriptures, you will find that the things Jehovah hates are just that - THINGS, not people.
He hates violence, adultery, lying, stealing, murder, homosexuality, child abuse, greed, betrayal or disloyalty, lack of love, lack of humility, choosing to remain ignorant.
ALL of these are THINGS. People do them, yes. But when people CHANGE, the people are accepted as if they never did any of them. So that shows that it is the things rather than the people who are hated. - 1st Corinthians 6:9 and 10
Jehovah hand-made man out of the "ground". The building blocks were there from the other things he had previously created. He took the dust of the ground and put it into a life-sustaining formation and "breathed into the man the breath of life and man became a living soul." - Genesis 2:7
Can we deliberately do wrong? Even when we are instructed in the right way? I'm not talking about mistakes, flawed judgment, or impaired thinking, not knowing the full story or consequences. I'm talking DELIBERATE?
Yes we can, more than likely we have at some point in our life. And so have some of the angels, including Satan. He is probably the first to go the wrong direction with others to follow.
I would suggest that you go out on www.watchtower.org and do some looking around for some excellent reading material. Check out "What Does the Bible Really Teach". It is a wealth of information with scriptures to direct you to God's thoughts.
PS - Check out what it says about HELL. It will be a real eye opener for you I'm sure. Totally different scenario!

1) God loves everyone. In fact, he sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die for us while we were still sinners. That is, he saw that we are sinful creatures in need of a savior and provided one. God hates sin, but he hates all sin equally. It makes no sense to single out homosexual sin. It is unfair to do so.
2) Satan didn't create hell. God created hell as the place where Satan will eventually end up. Like humans, angels have free will. They can choose to follow God or rebel. Satan chose to rebel.
3) Why couldn't the creator of the universe also create Adam and Eve? A being capable of such power ought to be able to create a man and a woman. By the way, there are many problems with the theory of evolution. It has not been proven. In fact, more and more scientists are doubting that the complexity found in living creatures could have evolved on its own. Archaeologists are busy trying to figure out why the fossil record does not show transitional forms. I don't think it's right to accept evolution as a fact.
Please keep in mind that the Bible is a complex document. Some parts are to be taken literally. Some parts are to be taken figuratively. Some parts applied only to specific people at specific times and don't apply to us today. It is quite reasonable to believe the Bible is true without following its every statute. The key is to figure out what applies today and what does not.
By the way, while archaeologists are unable to validate the theory of evolution, new archaeological finds continue to bolster the validity of the Bible. There has never been archaeological evidence that contradicts the Bible. Never. you can trust it.

the Bible is GODS word and to be a true christian you need to know that AND believe it heres proof...
The Bible says, "Thy word is true from the beginning." Psalms 119:160. "The Spirit . . . will guide you into all truth." John 16:13.
Answer: Yes, the Bible is true. The Holy Spirit, who guided the Bible writers, always speaks the truth. Here are a few Bible statements that have been confirmed by science:
A. "He . . . hangeth the earth upon nothing." Job 26:7. This scientific fact is from Job, the Bible's oldest book.
B. "He . . . sitteth upon the circle of the earth." Isaiah 40:22. The Bible said the earth is round centuries before man found out.
C. "To make the weight for the winds." Job 28:25. Long before scientists knew, God said air has weight.
D. "By Him [Jesus] all things consist." Colossians 1:17. The word "consist" here literally means "hold together" or "cohere." Many Bible translations put it "hold together." This is the answer to the nuclear physicists' worrisome question about the atom. The real mystery of the atom does not involve its benumbing mega-power, but rather, "Why doesn't the atom fly apart?" Scientific knowledge says it should, but it doesn't. Some scientists are wondering what puzzling power, completely unknown to them, is holding it together. The Bible says that mysterious power is the Creator, God Himself.

1) God loves everyone whether they are gay, black, native, jewish, sikh, muslim, etc. If you look back in history, you will find an abundance of hatred towards various non-christian people. It was society's cover up of their fear towards a culture that was foreign to them.
2) I'll leave this one to someone else.
3) When anyone argues about Adam and Eve to be true, I just say that there is so much we have yet to learn about creation of the universe and Evolution. Perhaps some day science will prove Adam and Eve to be true. That could take 100's of years.
I believe that God created the universe, yet I also believe that we are not the only occupied planet. Through God, all things are possible.
A Christian is someone who believes that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins and resurrected on the third day. If you accept Jesus in your life, then you are a Christian.

I think you're just like all thinking people who are Christian, there are so many unresolved questions, issues and weird bits in the bible and in religion today; it would be odd to completely agree with everything with no comment.
I think most clergy are like you, full of doubts and wonderings. There are a huge spectrum of beliefs across the church, some bishops are happy and openly gay, some believe that being gay is a sin. Some take the creation story to be a story and a metaphor and are scientists, others loathe the scientific world and believe in the literal word of god.
Keeo questioning, and get in touch with other quizical christians, either in person or on the net. Look to other countries for answers too, find out all sorts of views. Look to different branches of the religion, quakers, catholics, unitarians. Your thoughts are normal for a christian or indeed a non believer.
Remember, Jesus was always questioning and had doubts. You are not fake. Stay strong and good luck with your mom. Parents often overreact I think, you're finding your own beliefs, she'll accept that one day, it may be tough til she does though. I guess a lot of what is meant by faith is that people don't understand it all, but keep trying. Good luck. xxx

1. God doesnt hate anyone He hates sin. Sin can not be in the presence of God
2.Free will just like we all have
3. Man was created from the dirt on the ground by God, woman was made from his rib. There is no proof we came from monkeys. God created the universe, the plants and the first 2 people and I believe evolution took off from there.

i call myself christian, but i have some believes that no one else has. i believe that when god created the angels, and the angels had a choice to love him or not. got created the angels and people because he was lonely. it is not fun to create thing to love you. it is more reasonable to give them a choice to love you. what if you had an arranged marriage from birth. would it be fun to force love, when it should have been by choice. choice is what makes love so great. he created man with choice as well as the Angles. when the end of the world is hear then god will know who loves him by choice not by force. and i do believe in evolution, but i believe that god made it, and i know that man was created separate from all. we are in his image. i know the Apple story sounds funny, but in those days they did not write so they needed to pass down the story, however it gives enough info. the main thing that you should be concerned about is your love for Jesus Christ.

You are not thinking too much, you are thinking too little. I won't call you anything right now because you are, as you say, confused. But I strongly recommend that you go back to basics. What you have described as Christian belief bears only the slightest resemblance to historic Christianity. If you decide to leave Christianity behind it would be a travesty if what you were actually abandoning was such a colossal distortion. But my strong impression, and I truly hope I'm wrong, is that you don't really care enough to do the hard work of understanding your faith. It's far quicker and easier to go shopping at 'faiths R us' for something that fits you. You've already abandoned the idea of Truth and without that there is really little hope, short of a miracle, that you will find you way out of the fog. Please just start over and this time think. By all means ask questions. Questioning is essential. But in order to move you forward you have to ask the right questions. You also have to believe that there are true answers to them.

Ok..1)God does not hate gays. What he hates is the act of homosexuality. He created man and He designed us to have sexual relations with the opposite sex. 2) God created the Angels perfect, but at the same time gave them a choice to be obedient or not. (Otherwise they would be puppets). The fallen angels became proud. 3) I'm sure if you believe the universe was created then you can believe man was created also. (Nothing can not come from nothing). 4) You should not call yourself Christian unless you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and came to die for your sins. Hope this helps.
