Pro-abortionists: What if the baby survives?

A baby survives the abortion procedure. You, the doctor, are holding the body in your arms. Its arms are softly flailing; its mouth open in a silent scream. (Assuming the born alive bill is nonexistent)Would you:

1. Perform the post-mortem(put it in the hat and in the freezer) procedure without informing the mother.

2. Put it out of its misery, then perform the post-mortem

3. Tell the mother and let her 'make the choice'

4. Call an ambulance

Why?

Update:

Actually Pumpkin Kitty, it has happened. I know of ten different cases of 'botched abortions'. Some babies have survived it.

Update 2:

Twilight: It is possible, and it has happened. Email me for a list of names.

Update 3:

There have been survivals of even the first trimester abortion.

Update 4:

Perhaps not Discord7, but the first trimester cases were born later...very much alive.

Update 5:

TheQuest, I asked a question. Please don't jump to conclusions.

Update 6:

Magenta, does the science textbook tell you who drew up that fetal chart in your Biology textbook?

Update 7:

Actually discord7...you dont know what i have been through =). And believe it or not...there have been 'abortion attempts' in the first trimester that the baby survived. Some mommas felt the obvious kicks and had a baby(sometimes minus a limb or two) on schedule. Other first trimester abortions removed a baby...while the twin survived.

It is VERY RARE that an abortion would be done that late in the pregnancy unless the mothers life was in danger. Playing your what if games does not change that.

I'm pro-choice, but I agree about cases like this or partial-birth abortion that it's wrong. "My body, my choice" doesn't really apply once it's left the mother's body. But you're not quite being realistic, I think. A baby "surviving" a first trimester abortion is far too underdeveloped to possibly live on.

  • First off, nobody is Pro-Abortion! Pro- anything implies advocacy, promotion, proponents, etc.

What we are is pro-freedom for a woman to choose when her body will be used for child-rearing purposes, and when she will take on the obligation to be a mother.

If a fetus is delivered through the abortion procedure, and the fetus is alive, the mother should be informed only in the event that the fetus is still viable.

How does a clump of cells have a mouth and arms? You need to take a biology class and pay attention. I am sick of these people who think a zygote looks like a little barbie baby, go to school and try to learn something. And it's pro-choice not pro-abortion, using the wrong terms makes you look even more idiotic.

Oh and your well known cases are either; A. people who got illegal abortions or B. some nut job making stuff up to try and scare people into agreeing with them.

My textbook has photos not drawings, done with something called a camera they even have ones that can take pictures of tiny little cells and everything. You should look into that as well.

The conditions for fetal viability are well understood by the medical establishment, and abortions are not performed on viable fetuses except under very rare health threats to the mother's life. Usually, if a pregnancy involving a viable fetus must be terminated, the doctors will perform a Cesarean birth. The baby might subsequently be adopted. Doctors do not kill babies.

In contrast, God demands that a baby conceived in adultery be aborted and killed even if it is viable: Numbers 5:11-31

I would not do any of the above (number 1-4) I would be calling the police on the incompetent Doctor (or person doing the abortion) who should have known better than to abort a child who is "alive" and beyond the point of abortion. This is a criminal act and deserves the incarceration of the person playing doctor who is not fit to be one.

As for those who use religion to play GOD on issues which are strickly confidential between a patient and the doctor, I also say these people should be incarcerated for treason to a constitution that guarantees people FREEDOM. That includes what they do with their own personal decisions.

You are referring to late term abortions..A fetus could possibly survive the procedure however it is unlikely it will survive on it's own..Late term abortions are done in extreme cases not just for the sake of "convenience"

An abortion performed within the first trimester cannot result in your scenario..

How is a fetus aborted in the first trimester born later? You aren't making any sense..

Why can't you just be grateful that abortion isn't a trial you've had to personally endure in your life rather than stick poking at those who have?

I'm pro-choice. If someone doesn't want an abortion, I will give them the choice NOT to. But if someone wants to have an abortion, I will grant them that choice as well.

"Pro-abortion" is nonexistent. The term implies that everyone everwhere should always have abortions, which is the opposite of choice.

As for your question, this is not possible. Most abortions are performed on what would look like a bunch of semen and other assorted biological goos. No arms, no legs.

I am not pro abortion.....i am pro choice!!! and I wouldnt ever have an abortion after 12 weeks unless its for medical reasons!!!! the procedure done here in Australia is done under anisthetic and with a vacuum method and no body stands holding the baby in their hands....you have watched too many youtube "abortions" videos sweetheart!! if you dont want an abortion then dont get one k!

EDIT......what are you talking about????? a baby under 12 weeks will not survive outsidew the womb...let alone 10 cases!!! show us the links to these so called survived abortions!!!! if woman are getting abortions so late in pregnancy then of coarse teh kid can survive but the fact that you claim you have seen 10 cases just proves your ignorance even more!!!

Source(s): Aussie atheist....pro choice.....you have the choice to abort or to keep

Nobody is pro-abortion. They are pro-choice.

An abortion is not done that late in the pregnancy to where the baby could viably live outside the mother.

As I understand, there is a time period in which the mother must decide to have an abortion or not. After that date in her pregnancy has passed, she must go through with having the baby.
