Large states and small states have equal representation in Congress.?

I still don't get what that has to do with the electoral college? Popular vote is still the popular vote. Whether you are from Rhode Island or California, there are layers and layers of issues that transcend geography.

Far from it. Try reading a history book.

Every state gets just two senators. It also gets at least one representative, but the number of representatives is kept as close as possible in ratio to the total population.

The amount of votes in the electoral college is equal to the total number of Congressmen. So indeed smaller states have more say than they would on the basis of population. This is to prevent them being overpowered by the larger states.

It would be interesting to totally change the system for the presidency and go by total popular vote. But sometimes things don't work out the way you think. Going from "smoke-filled rooms" to primaries as a way of choosing candidates was meant to make things more democratic. Maybe it has, but it has certainly increased the influence of money, because candidates need it to fund their primary campaigns.

No, they have proportional representation in the House. They have equal representation in the Senate. But the electoral college is determined based on how many Representatives each state has.

Not really. Proportionally, small states have a much larger say in Congress and our electoral process than large states do.

That's why we have two houses of congress. Each state gets two senators. The House is based on population.

Connecticut Compromise. I trust first answer, however the homestead of Reps. benefited the bigger states (because that they had a larger pop.) and the Senate universal the smaller states.
