To what Degree is art a Spiritual Endeavour?

Despite the notion that " we are made in the image of God" means we look like Him (God has no physical body), the correct context means that we Think in a like manner, only on a lower level. One of the characteristics of God is that he is a "creator". He has given us this trait also and it expresses itself in our art. We "create" where nothing existed before and the end product is usually more than the sum of the parts. Thanks for asking.

I relate it to Kipling's magnificent "The Conundrum of the Workshops"

The tale is as old as the Eden Tree -- and new as the new-cut tooth --

For each man knows ere his lip-thatch grows he is master of Art and Truth;

And each man hears as the twilight nears, to the beat of his dying heart,

The Devil drum on the darkened pane: "You did it, but was it Art?"
