What the heck is going on!!!?!?

So, I started my birth control pills in the beginning of October. However, I missed about 6 or 7 within just the first two weeks, and so I just stopped taking them around the 14th of October. My husband and I had unprotected sex before I stopped, after I stopped, and just haven't really been worrying about it because I figured the pills would still be in my system (and we didn't really care if we got pregnant, we want kids anyway).

So, I'm 4 days past when my period should have been, but the test was negative. So what's going on? Is it my birth control making my period come a few weeks later or am I pregnant? I'm really confused!

Update:

I've been having nausea for the past three days as well as dizziness. No hunger or anything, but I feel SO tired. I don't want to think they're pregnancy symptoms though, because I could just have the flu or something...

There are a number of answers I can think of.

First of all, when you start birth control and then miss days and/or stop taking the pills, your menstrual cycles can get messed up. One month, I missed a week because I left them at home and went out of town. I wound up missing the whole cycle and just started the pack over again.

However, it is possible that you can be pregnant and the test be negative. Four days isn't that many to be passed due with your cycle. If you continue to miss (like a week or so past due), take another test. It may be too soon for the test to pick up on the hcg in your system.

Of course, you can always have your doctor help you out too.

The pill is loaded with hormones. Right now, your body, pregnant or not, is trying to balance itself. You may feel weird for several days until things quiet back down.

You’re not going to get a definitive answer here. It’s equally possible that you’re pregnant vs. that the pills messed up your cycle. Give it another week or two and test again. If say 4-6 weeks goes by with no AF, visit your doctor for a check up.

Just a tip for the future, when stopping the pill, polish off the pack. With this method your next period off the pill should come at a predictable interval.

Well honestly since you werent taking the birthcontrol to any scheduled time it could be your period just coming late. Wait about 6 days and take another test. Try getting the EPT by EPT I mean Early Pregnancy Test. That's what I did and I found out 2 days before my due period. Good luck.

Well when you are taking the pills and than stop all at once like you did, every one I have ever known got pregnant really easy and fast. I did! It could be that you are pregnant and it is to early to detect it. I was almost two months along before it showed in the pregnancy test. You could go to your family doctor and have them draw blood and see if it shows that way. It is usually easier to detect in blood and can be found earlier.

you may be pregnant. But i doubt it. Stopping the pill will make your periods crazy! I've been off of them for six months now and still bleed in the middle of my cycle and anywhere from 3 to 9 days late!

it takes a while for the pill to fully kick it, at least a month the doctor should have told you that when they prescribed them to you. but you could be pregnant and it is just too early for the test to show up positive right now, you should wait a week and check again and/ or goto the doctor.

My friend was 2 weeks overdue and all 5 urine test still came back negative. In the end she went for a blood test and was positive. i did my test when i'm 3 weeks pregnant and was positive. So really depends on individual.

Your body is saying "What the heck??" LOL I think it has something to do with starting and stopping the pill. You might be kind of weird with your cycles for the next month or two.

  • Definitely sounds like pregnancy to me dear. Wait another couple of weeks and then re-test. If it comes back negative still and you still are feeling crummy, etc. . .

I'd take a visit to the doctors to see what's up! Best of luck to you! xxx

youre more than likely pregnant. you didn't take them long enough for them to actually be in your system. try getting a blood test if the pee tests are coming out negative.
