Does Internet TV consume ISP's download limit ?

Let's say your ISP limits your download to 20GB per month ... will watching live feed internet TV drastically use this up ... please ... no referrals to web pages ... I want to hear from people who actually use it on a regular basis & can substantiate their replies.

Philip, let me share my limited experience with you,

(seeing no one else answer this)

My subscription plan which i coose from my ISP allows me 10 GB per month (sum of upload + download), at connection speeds 2 mbps

it used to be 5 GB, but then i exceeded that limit occassionally & additional usage charges are pretty high, so i opted for a higher plan since the last 2 years or so

The ISP also offers unlimited usage plans for similar charges i presently pay, but then connection speed is curtailed to 256 kbps

unlimted usage plans at higher speeds are available, but beyond my wallets hence question does not arise

Giving you this background, i'm better placed to answer you

Does Internet TV consume ISP's download limit ?

    >> yes, it does !

any flow of data through the dsl modem is metered

Do i watch 'Internet TV' on a regular basis

    >> no. obviously i cannot afford it (besides i have no need too)

The last occassion was the 3rd US presidential debate about a fortnight back. Watched half an hour (appox) at low stream quality & another half hour in high stream quality

Bytes 'Received' activity was markedly moving faster, in 'high' & i loosely approximate that 0.3 GB was consumed in that one hour

I did check my usage, but did not time it very specifically ... so loosely those figures

in summation, it is just too expensive for me

(new regulatory orders, tarriff plans are afoot here and should take effect in a couple of months time ... hopefully becomes cheaper)
