Do you think that Palin could be encouraging a new brand of McCarthyism?
Do you think that Palin's rhetoric regarding "anti-American" views and her staunch religious beliefs could give rise to a new form of McCarthyism? Instead of hunting communists, the hunt would be on for anti-Americans and atheists.
I'm not talking about sweeping patrols of military trying to find dissenters Nazi-Germany style, but something like the loyalty tests created by Executive Order 9835 (Truman) could easily be instated for all job seekers regardless of whether or not they are federal employees. With the Department of Homeland Security already requiring paperwork for some new hires in the markeplace, it is not so far-fetched to think that a new breed of "loyalty test" could be added as a job requirement.
Could you see such things happening under a McCain/Palin white house? Why or why not?

You have articulated one of the many reasons I will never support anything with Palin's name on it. Her misrepresentation of facts is done to get a cute sound bite, with little regard for the consequences. I'm praying to God that this is her 15 minutes of fame since the woman clearly doesn't understand anything. It's not that she just don't understand politics, it's that she doesn't understand science, socialism vs fascism, civil rights, freedom of speech...anything. She speaks without regard for the truth and once it's out there you either agree with her or you are a Godless anti-American socialist baby-killer.

I don't really know about McCarthyism except for what I learned in high school and college and that was eons ago but I know I want the republicans out of office. I have had it. The republicans blame Clinton for all of the problems that we are having today but I say that Bush had 8 years to correct the situation and didn't. He seemed to get the things that would benefit him and his cronies and family changed. I do know that Harry Truman said, "The buck stops here." and I do think he meant the desk at the oval office. No one is perfect and I believe that all government is corrupt in one way or another but I am so sick of this administration. That's just my opinion. I think I am still allowed to have my freedom of speech or has George W. taken that away too?

Maybe, but she is certainly encouraging a new brand of anti-intellectualism.
I was going to say retardism, but didn't. Oops, guess I did.
