How to drain sprinkler system for the winter?

I recently moved into a house that has an underground sprinkler system. What do I do to get it ready for the winter.

Your best way is to Remove the Sprinkler head or heads at the lowist part of the yard for each sprinkler valve to let any standing water in Pipes to Drain! This also a good way to check for any leak at the valves! A little water in a pipe will not cause it to burst or crack. Leave the head off for a day or two then replace it so no dirt gets in the pipe!

If you have a air compressor take the highist head off and blow all the water out of the system!
