Is the surest way to prevent war to not fear it ?
Someone won the nobel prize fore this very old concept. An old israeli guy? Can you tell me where I can read more about this? And what his name is? I think Obama will lead the us into more wars.....by appearing weak and pliable. What do you think?
To those of you who disagree....and to those of you who think Obama will increase funding by raising the tax rate on rich people....you are wrong. Did you hear me say that this guy won a Pulitzer Prize? (Thats for peace...in case you didn't know)
Here he is...Have a look. Pretty amazing old guy.

World peace? Not even close. Classical detertance has worked in that one country hasn't nuked a country that has nukes for the simple fact they don't want to be nuked in return. Nations with nuclear capabilities have also held to the agreement that nuclear weapons shouldn't be used on nations without nuclear capability. That doesn't throw out war, it just holds off nuclear war. Since 1945, we've had Korea, Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm, and now Operation Iraqi Freedom. Not to mention the numerous conflicts and civil wars the US has not had a large presence in. Looking at our current relations with North Korea and Iran, war may end up on the table in order to keep them from developing nukes. There are other groups, such as jihadists who believe that killing the enemy is their mission from God, and not only will they be rewarded a for killing as many as they can but also after death if they're killed by the enemy. In this situation, classical deterance doesn't work because one side doesn't care if they live or die. Again, if it comes down to it, war may be necessary to keep such people away from getting atomic bombs.

Fear most times is what leads to war in the first place. We where afraid that Iraq was going to attack us, so we attack them first. Now we are at war with them. It has nothing to do with looking weak. Everyone knows that America is a strong country. However right now we are acting like the bully going around beating our chest saying just how bad *** we are. I think some people would be happy to know that we are strong but did not use our strength unless we really had too. Much like WW2. We stayed out of the way until Japan decided to attack us. I would love if America would get back to being the sleeping giant, and may God have mercy on those who wake her.

Not fear war would PREVENT war? That sounds rather illogical to me. IMO, fear of war or more precisely the enormous toll exacted by war is what keeps a country from going to war.
That said, I don't think Obama will lead us into war (or wars). Look at Bush's and his 'trigger happy' bunch... not satisfied with going after the real bad guys in Afghanistan, he had to make up some lame excuse to go to Iraq and take down his father's nemesis, just to prove that he's better than his old man.
On the subject of appearing weak and pliable, just because you want to resolve a problem diplomatically, does not mean you are weak. In fact it takes a strong and disciplined person to not go at your enemy with brute force before exploring all other peaceful avenues. Even if it would mean to eat some humble pie at times and recognize that just because we're the most powerful country in the world, we're NOT ALWAYS RIGHT. That doesn't make him un-American or un-Patriotic like the right wing conservatives like to characterize him to be.

Mark 13:7
"When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end.
wars are inevidable. God makes that very clear. It will only get worse.

Anyone who does not fear War is an infidel.
War should be avoided at all cost but when to be fought, fought right and for very good reasons.
