What should i do for a swolen lip from a piercing?

For halloween i decided to wear a fake lip ring. The ring ended up going through my skin but not all the way inside. I took the ring out and it bled a little but not to much. 1/4 of my lip is HUGE but there isn't much pain. Once i got home i put peroxide and neosporin on it then iced it,to try and get the swelling to go down. This morning when i woke up my lip was still swolen. What should I do, are there any at home things i can do or should i go straight to the doctor?

well, the earring was probably dirty, and some germs got inside your lip. you can give nature a chance to heal it, but if after 3 to 5 days you notice that the lip is worse then go see a doctor, if it gets a bit better each day, or even stays the same you will know your body is fighting the infection. as soon as you notice it getting worse, you have to see the doc. good luck, hope it heals up for you.

Piercings are incomparable and there's no means so that you can recognize what to anticipate. While I could say one piercing was once enormously painful to me, a different man or woman could have skilled another way and say a piercing that I did not feel was once that painful. Every piercing enjoy goes to be unique. For me, my cosy was once my such a lot painful piercing I've had. My septum was once painless. My lip felt identical to my lobes and rarely harm in any respect.

I do piercings, and I would say to take the same steps..

Use a peroxide/water mixture and swish it in your mouth after you eat/drink/smoke. Also, put alcohol on it no more than once a day. No need to see a doctor.
