    Pisces.

Moses (Aries) represented by the ram's horn "slaughters" a golden bull calf (taurus). Jesus, represented by a fish (pisces) follows Moses.

Finally, according to the Bible, one of Jesus' disciples asks when he will return,

Mark 14:13 "And He sent two of His disciples and said to them, "Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him;..."

and is repeated in the book of Luke 22:10

"And He said to them, "When you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house that he enters."

The man carrying the pitcher of water represents Aquarius.

It is a metaphorical procession of the Ages

Taurus to Aries to Pisces to Aquarius....

I've heard about stories where, during biblical times, when Christians would want to meet, they would draw a fish in the ground, and that's how others would know they were Christians. Maybe it has something to do with the story of Jesus and his followers fishing and Jesus was walking on water while there was a storm going on. Thus the fishing represents the fish. I'm not sure on this, but that's my guess.

Gee, I wish I would have just looked it up. But I saw a cartoon about it once in church, during Sunday school. =)

Well the image of the fish comes from the story about how Jesus performed the miracle of feeding thousands of people with just a few fish and a couple loaves of bread. The story behind the fish is that when a Christian was unsure if they were in the presence of another Christian or not (because it wasn't safe to be a Christian) they would draw a curve in the ground with their foot. If the other person was a Christian, they would draw another curve that would create a fish. Then they knew they were safe being Christians around each other. It was kind of like a secret hand shake.

The Greek word for fish is "ixthus" or "icthus." The Christian fish symbol that many Christians place on their car or wear as a pendant is known as the “ixthus.” Five Greek letters form the word “ixthus,” and those letters inside the fish form an acrostic which is a message that Christians clearly identified with.

The first letter represented the word Jesus. The second letter represented the word Christ, the next two, God Son, and the final letter represented the word Savior. This adds up to “Jesus Christ is God’s Son, the Savior.”

During early Christianity, Christians were often put to death for practicing their faith, so they worshiped in secret places. A fish painted on the outside door of a house let other Christians know that they would be safe and welcome inside. The Christian fish symbol is now often used to identify Christians and/or Christian businesses.

The Greek word for "fish" is Ichtys, and the letters have been used as an acronym from the earliest Christian communities onwards: In ancient Greek it's "Ἰησοῦς Χριστός, Θεοῦ Υἱός, Σωτήρ" (Iēsous Christos Theou Yios, Sōtēr), which means Jesus, the Anointed One, son of God, saviour.

Jesus said to be fisher of men (in terms of preaching the gospel and gathering his followers) and he fed people with fish.

I dont think most people that have fish on their cars take it for the original literal meaning anymore.

This is what my Christian Sister told me:

Back in the day, people would kill people for them believing in Jesus and instead of the Cross they put the fish up, and they never knew so they could keep there Religeon and not be killed

    Hope this helps

    God Bless~

  • in my own opinion we don't have to idolise those symbols. it is a form of idolatry. Ps 115 :1-18.

Jesus left us the word of God the bible, to guide us in our day to day living in accordance with the bible principle. As a christian it is our obligation to spread His Word and serve the Lord with all our strenght and with all our might.
