that baffles me as a padres fan
they want to rebuild with Hoffman who is 41 and they want to get rid of Peavy who is 27. i guess its just respect to a man who is the face of the padres and apparantly they don't want anyone else to be the face

1) When you got a guy like Hoffman, its respectful to keep a guy, especially when he isn't down the drain.

2) They don't think they have a guy ready to take on the closer role.

I guess he is the Franchise Player and when he has been there closer for so long, fans would hate to see him in another uniform.
