Why have men stopped wearing ties?
Now that less women wear pantyhose or stockings on a daily basis more men have asked why. Most women would rather have a tooth pulled than wear pantyhose for obvious reasons. So I ask why men have ditched the ties? I think ties finish the "look" for a man, can be powerful and sexy. So ladies tell me if you agree on men going back to ties and if the guys can tell me why they don't wear ties that much anymore.
Thanks!
I agree with you both....

I think that it has more to do with the whole idea of the work place becoming more casual back in the late 90's when jeans were allowed. We went from one extreme of suit/tie to the other of jeans and no we are floating somewhere in the middle and seem to be gravitating towards going back to the suit/tie slowly.
IMHO men look hot in a suit/tie and I wish that more of them would wear them.

Because ties are uncomfortable and I think even a health hazard. They are really the most useless piece of rubbish ever created. Try wearing one of these torture devices for a few days and you'll know what I'm talking about.
And about them looking powerful and sexy, I think they look plain ridiculous. But to men pantyhose look powerful and sexy and the finishing touch to any outfit. And to wear them feels powerful and sexy too. It's quite impossible to figure out why women don't want to wear pantyhose.

Many work places have gone over form requiring the tie for men to that of a polo or uniform type of shirt, making for a more casual look. Our local supermarket does require the men to be in white shirts and ties though. So, this trend may be swinging back.
Maybe you girls have been leading us guys around by our ties too much? Naw, that can't be it - we now have those snap on and clip on ties.

If the company I'm working for would impose ties to men I would gleefully oblige; but wearing ties alone is not something I want to do.
Sometimes I wish I was working in the legal/accounting industry where formal dress codes seem to be still the norm.

Guys are anti-fashion .. as soon as the retail industry tried to 'fashion up' ties, we stopped wearing them (they were always a pointless bit of non-function rubbish associated with the 'toffs' and 'upper classes' anyway).
Ties 'live on' when you have to wear a suit (another 'fashion' attempt that fell by the wayside) ...

some men do wear ties... I just think that not wearing a tie is alot more relaxed.

A tight collar cuts off blood flow to your brain and makes your thinking fuzzy. And they are uncomfortable..
