A record $2.4 BILLION was spent on this presidential campaign...?

That's so much money - a thousand million - that most people can't even comprehend such a large number.

How many better uses can you think of to which that money could have been put?

    Universal health care.

low interest loans to those who have lost their homes.

The source of that money bought this election and had a vested interest in the outcome of the elections.

Now they want the payback of that loan, the return of investment.

    What have you'all done ?

The positive slant to this exorbitant spending is that most of that money was spent here in the US. Radio and TV stations, print shops, and the like all got a boost from the campaigns. A kind of "trickle down" handout to our economy !!

We couldn't afford NOT to spend that much on this election.

Another four years of the Bush/Cheney/McCain policies would have completely destroyed this country.

Look at the huge deficits, the biggest in history, that the Bush junta ran up. Do you think that we can afford more of the same?

The price to get a decent president in place is well worth it. I gave money and am glad the candidate spent it on what I intended it for, to get the candidate elected.

Wow. Are you a socialist? Ahhh.... Every cent went to working people. TV stations employ thousands and pay good salaries. Printing plants employ people who make signs. Radio stations employ people. All that money went right into the hands of people WHO WORK FOR A LIVING!

I agree on this issue. I think each candidate should be allowed say $10,000,000 tops to campaign with. Level the playing field, get rid of lobbyists and clean-up the election process.

Anything but this campaign, It really should have gone to the deficit though.

It's all worth it because Obama won!

Barack Obama the 44th President of the United States of America!

The donations were made for that money to be spent on the campaign.

Thirty of it was mine, to use in his campaign. If he would have spent it on something else, I would be upset.

We donated money so he could campaign, and that's what he did. There is nothing wrong with that.
