When going home to visit your parents, do you knock on the door?
Or do you just walk in, since you used to live there.
I went home to visit my dad yesterday...it felt weird to just walk in, so I knocked. He made fun of me for that.

Knock. You do NOT want to walk in on the parental units getting it on with some strange Pulp Fiction theme.

You should knock on the door or ring the door bell... since you no longer LIVE at your parents home, you are considered a GUEST when you come to visit... all guests ring the bell or knock and wait until the door is opened to them... Put those shoes on the other foot... suppose one of your PARENTS were to come over to YOUR home and just walk in......

I agree with Cjs. I knock when they don't know I am going to drop by. I wouldn't want to walk in on anything that might be disturbing.

Knock- unless expected, and invited to do so.
If he gives you a hard time... don't worry; just say, "I want to respect your privacy."
This will also set a standard, and he won't walk into your place without knocking in the future.
