Over 5 years my friend lost his drivers lic due to a seizure. What does the ca DMV require to reinstate his li?

He has not had a siezure in those 5 years. He cannot locate the original MD he had at the time he experienced the seizure.

What would the CA. DMV require a new MD to document to have his licnese reinstated?

Update:

I appreciate the help given so far but I still cannot asertain what the process is to have a license reinstated, when no seizures have accured for a period of 5 years.

Update 2:

I agree that a person must demonstrate having been seizure for a period of time. But how is that established. The DMV wo'nt strap themselves to his body for months, How is it dertermined that there have been no seizures? Thanks for all the help so far:)

Update 3:

How is it dertirmined that a period of time has been seizure free?

The site below is from the California DMV. It's everything you need to know about drivers license with epilepsy.

Normally, the person would have to go for a set period of time seizure free and the license would be reinstated after an MD signs off, but in your friends case- since it's been 5 yrs- he may have to go through the whole process all over again as if he were just getting his license for the first time, although he would also require an MD to sign off that it would be safe for him to operate a vehicle again.

This is based on WV state law, CA should have something similar though.

I hope I can help you with this answer. In New York State you would have to go to the DMV and petition them for the license. Due to the fact that It's been 5 years there may be tests to take, etc. Quite possibly a road test. The most important thing will be Medical Certification. He will need another doctor to look at him which may require medical tests. Start by going to the DMV and apply. Good luck
