Isn't making abortion illegal forcing your religion on others?

The most popular reason I hear for being against abortion is because it goes against the will of god. But so what? It's not keeping you from having faith. But if somebody else doesn't even believe in god and doesn't care if it goes against his will wants to get an abortion why shouldn't you let them?

Update:

Elder Greg: No it's not. The way I see it is it would give you freedom to believe when human life begins. If you believe an unborn child is still human, don't get an abortion. But if you don't believe that then you are free to get an abortion.

Update 2:

I'm NOT saying all religious people use this excuse or that all pro-life people are religious. It's just what I have heard a lot of and only applies to people who believe this.

It's not just about killing babies being wrong, but also about being responsible. Why should anyone have it so easy as to not have to worry about getting prego when having sex as any scientist will tell you that having any (hetero) sex contact can result in pregnancy. Before anyone throws out the "well it's not a baby" I defy anyone to show any documented medical cases where the post gestation birth was of anything but a human baby. For this "medical cases" do NOT include experimentations in inter-species breeding (Nazis), just under normal breeding circumstances.

I base my opinions on my beliefs, but no one should be excused from there responsibilities based on their own actions.

It is wrong because it is killing the baby in the moms womb, & then too many who vote don't care if the mother chooses to kill her baby.

I will speak for the most innocent when I have a chance. The baby is important too. Not just the mother.

Abortion is a curse. And Christians don't like abortion. And parents don't like abortions. It is legal only because of the liberal judges in the National Supreme Court. And they will be held accountable before God...

Abortion is not necessarily a religious issue. Some people believe murder is wrong , whether a religious person or not.

This is an issue which has been around for 30 years and will continue to be around for sometime due to the Supreme Court Ruling.

There are criminals who believe it was not wrong to rob or steal because they grew up without common comforts of life. That does not make them right in their thinking.

Of course it is, but the main problem with these people is that they're hypocrites.

Pro-lifers are the first to say that you shouldn't have an abortion no matter what the reason but they themselves don't do anything else to help these women afterwards.

Personally I feel that every pro-lifer out there should adopt, raise and nuture a child that they have "saved" from being aborted. This includes loving them as their own, taking care of the child through the good times and the bad and paying for everything this child consumes up to and including their college education.

Until that point is reached, they should have no say in what is essentially a choice between the woman and her doctor.

    Put up or shut up.

    God's OK On Abortion

"And when he hath made her drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed." (Numbers 5:27-28)

This nonsensical ritual, prescribed by God, to a woman suspected of infidelity, must undergo the drinking of a vile concoction made of bitter water and dust from the floor of a tabernacle. A priest calls a curse upon the woman's head to insure that if she has acted in adultery the drinking of the liquid will cause her to have a miscarriage. If she comes out clean, then she shall conceive.

Regardless of how ridiculous this procedure seems, any person who believes every word of the Bible must come to terms with the realization that the quoted God here sometimes authorizes abortion.

Religion and abortion are very separate things. I'm pro-choice although I'd never have an abortion myself, but I realise the reasons why people want it banned. An unborn child is still a child, and you are taking away it's rights to life.

That's exactly right. And so is making same-sex marriage illegal. And so were the blue laws that most states got rid of.

Radical religious conservatives of any sort constantly try to implement their beliefs into the laws of the nations that they reside in, and through missionary outreach, to the entire world.

It's the goal of radical Christians and radical Muslims alike. The only difference is that currently, the radical Muslims are more likely to engage in violence. A few hundred years ago, it was the Christians.

do you know what they do to those helpless babies? they cut them out of their mothers womb and slice their head open to kill them! No numbing. It is the mothers choice to sleep with the man. Be mature and accept the consequences! No life is more important than yours or mine. we are all equal. All people deserve to have a chance at life. God has created us all with a purpose. by aborting a child you are destroying Gods purpose for that child. He might of become president or saved a life. You cant take a persons life away because you were irresponsible.

Better yet, if they're so against abortion and for adoption, why do these fundamentalist Christians have so many of their own children? Every fundamentalist Christian family I knew growing up had 3 or more of their own children. Why don't they put their money where their mouth is and adopt more children out of the foster care system?

It just illustrates to me that they care more about fetuses than they do about actual people. To the anti-choice movement, you are super important, up until the moment you are born. After that, you're screwed.

I am against it, because it is wrong to kill a human being, just because you are too damned sorry to raise a child, and that is the ONLY reason I am against it! What the hell is wrong with using birth control, if you are too sorry to take any responsibility for what you do??
