What were you thinking as Obama was declared the winner of the election?
Personally, I was VERY happy...I ended up with goose-bumps through my whole body and just felt so relieved and proud that we've come this far. I never thought I would see the day....and I never thought I would feel the way I did about an election, a person, a President...
Please leave the negative comments at the door. I don't care to hear them, neither does anyone else who witnessed history last night and who appreciates just how far we've come as a nation.

Nothing that I can post on a public forum...although all of the rapturous faces being plastered all over the news sites got a bit nauseating. I understand happiness at your candidate winning - truly, I do, been there - but these people looked like he was the Messiah or something. He's not.
And honestly, if you don't care to hear negative comments, don't ask for thoughts. You'll get some positive, some neutral, some negative. Everyone has them, and everyone has the right to their own opinions. Just saying.

I knew it as soon as Ohio came in, that it was over, really, after Pennsylvania I figured it was over, and after Ohio, I'm sure that a lot of people got the picture, as it was approaching 11 PM and the poll closings on the West Coast, Obama had 207 electoral votes, I think, and I started doing the math, with Obama favored to win everything on the West Coast, including California's 55 electoral votes, I realized, Barack Obama will go over the top at 11. So, I can't say that I was surprised with the outcome. And I think that sort of muted my reaction that night, I really wasn't guageing about the history being made, I was aware of it, but I was in full vote counting mode, I was more thinking about what states were going to go to who, etc. I was rooting for Barack Obama, quietly, I did vote for him, and I expected him to win. So, I was happy when he was announced the winner, and I did feel badly for Sen. McCain, who gave an extraordinarily gracious concession speech, but my vote for Obama basically came down to my belief that McCain could not govern in this climate, whereas Obama may be able to, and potentially get some things done. I watched his acceptance speech, with the same feeling that I watched his speech after he won the Iowa caucuses, just thinking, this is history, I'm watching history here. He's on a path to become the John Kennedy of this generation. Honestly, it wasn't until today that I really had time to think about the historical significance of the first African American President, and, it really did hit me, its a big step, I think it is his time, and I hope he seizes his moment. I'll say this, it gave this cynic a feeling of pride in country that I haven't felt for quite some time.

I thought the liberal middle and working classes had caught on to our GOP and then I began to think about the ways we could thwart justice being served upon our president Bush for the numerous crimes he has committed over the past eight years. Obviously, Obama is not going to give our president Bush and VP Dick Cheney pardons.

Ok, you seem more proud of his race then anything he might do for the country. He made history because he is the first black president. So what? what will he do to really improve this country in an economic downfall? Raise taxes? You betcha!

I was very happy. There was a God that listen. I don't know if you are save or not, but if you ever read the bible you will know that Obama name is in there and it stated that he will win, but he will not be giving any credit. That is the history it was already written.
