Can you wash a down pillow in the washing machine?
It's old...very old. And...uh...stinky. Don't tell me to throw it away. It's my blanky.

No, down pillows should not go through the washing machine. They can be gently hand-washed in a bathtub with cold water. You can use a dish soap like Dawn or your regular laundry detergent (just a small amount).
Use a non-abrasive sponge to scrub what you can. When finished, squeeze the pillow out to the best of your ability and then you can run it through the dryer on the lowest setting. It's usually advised that you put tennis balls in with the pillow so that the filling ends up evenly distributed and not shifted to one side.
Let it sit out in a well-ventilated area to make sure it doesn't acquire any mold or mildew from any moisture left over in the pillow.
Hope I helped!

I've done it many times. If it's a choice between buying a new pillow because the old one is too soiled, why not try it? Fill up the machine with water and your detergent, and let the pillow soak in it for a short while. Don't use a full wash cycle. Agitate it for just a couple of minutes, and then use two rinse cycles. Dry it in the dryer on low heat until it's mostly dry and then take it out and set it before a fan to completely dry it.

YES! I just washed mine on May 1, 2015 - regular cycle with other bedding. No feathers leaked out. I washed it on hot, and also put it on the hottest cycle of the dryer. It took nearly two hours to dry. But don't worry- dow is totally machine washable and you can finally get all that drool, sweat (and god knows what else) out of your pillow!

yes i have had down pillows for years. i wash them all the time. just wash them in the washer like anything else. put them in the dryer in the same fashion. sometimes you my have to take them out and unclump the feathers by shaking them around then returning them to the dryer . they will dry nice and fluffy. some have said use a tennis ball or tennis shoe to unclump the feathers while drying.
