Repubs/Conservatives--who would you like to see run in 2012?

And what does the GOP need to do in order to return to the party they once were? You have to admit, they've been spending our money like drunken sailors.

Update:

-Lovely voted for McCain--

The repubs still have some say, although very limited. The Dems need 60 seats in the Senate to make it filibuster proof, and I don't think they'll get there. In the meantime, I think there are RINOs that will go vote with the Dems, so you could also be right there.

Fred Thompson. He got into this election too late. He could run on a "Law and Order" platform.

I would really like to see Palin, Jindal, Romney or Huckabee run in 2012....

I think Palin well be great because she doesn't adhere to the status quo.... say what you like about her, but if something is not right she will throw you out on your ****.... she is pretty much a populist and she has been known to cut spending (yes she did wish wash on the bridge but you have to look at the big picture, not just specific cases)

Jindal looks to have great leadership qualities... and from what I see even the Dems in Louisiana like him... though I could be wrong since I am only their next door neighbor...

Romney seems to have done well with creating a surplus in Mass. even to the point that my husband graduated from MIT with fewer loans than I did... and I went to OKU... :/ It was partly because of that surplus that my husband was able to go to an out of state school for so little...

Huckabee seems to be levelheaded and fair... and I like his idea of a fair tax... He seems to be a conservative that would rule as a moderate...

I think it's going to be very hard in the next few years for us to chose a Republican candidate... our party is finally regrouping and updating our platform...

    1. Get back to basics of what it means to be a conservative: Small government, low taxes, pro-business, strong defense, traditional values, and strict interpretation of the Constitution.

#2. Focus on re-taking control of Congress.

#3. Focus on state and local politics. Get some Republican governors elected and control of some state legislatures.

#4. Find a leader that personifies the philosophy laid out in #1.

I would love to see Sarah Palin or Condi Rice. Both are very strong, intelligent women that would make a great Commander-in-Chief. I think once the economy gets straightened out, the GOP will realize that they can't frivolously spend money anymore, because we definitely do not want to continue to regress economically.

I don't know. I want someone who will actually be conservative. Someone whose views are close to mine.

The GOP was so concerned about attracting the independents that they lost their base. I'm ashamed at the Republicans we have in office. They voted for the bailout. They were for amnesty for illegal immigrants. They no longer represent my views. If they want to become moderate, that's fine but I'll find another party (Libertarian party).

The candidates in our primary were okay but none really energized me. Palin was great but I'm afraid she is too polarizing to win. I'd love to have someone who is for the Fair tax. I don't think that someone who is/was a preacher has a chance of winning because he'd be too polarizing. I don't have any representatives in my state that I'd like to see in the White House.

I'm interested in the answers you get because I want hope for the future.

The Republicans have to go back to Good Old-Fashioned American values. Morals, Faith in God, and a strong work ethic.

They have to stop lying and budget government spending.

I would like to see Mitt Romney or even Mike Huckabee. Maybe even together. I would Def. vote for a Romney/Huckabee ticket.

It would require a constitutional amendment - but how about Arnold Schwartzenegger, the Governor of California? Republicans who had any chance of winning this year were in very short supply.
