Should Obama remove the missiles in Poland?

Okay this is a toughy. Russia has threatened Obama that if he doesn't remove the missiles placed in Poland from the Bush administration that he would put his own missiles in and possible attack Poland.

So, basically Russia is trying to gain dominance over the USA. Poland isn't to concerned as it appears but Germany is.

Now in my opinion we only put those missiles there because Russia invaded Georgia and we put them there to stop them from invading other countries that separated themselves from Russia after the cold war. We say it is to protect that part of Europe from rogue missiles from the Middle East ... yada yada

Now, if Obama backs down he will send a message out to every single country that cannot stand us that we can be bullied. What that will do is incourage those countries to try us. Now, if he doesn't back down and stays strong that will set the tone for the rest of the world that we cannot be bullied.

What would you do?

Update:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselect...

yeah I know Bush is still the President and the threats were more directed at Obama not Bush. They know Bush's stand and he will not back down.

Update 2:

Dconstruct - sounds to me Washington needs you. thumbs up!

I would double what was originally planned. Bullys only respect strength. Back down now & you'll retreat all the way home & Cuba will get missiles again.

Ahh,Barry's first test. Came sooner than Biden or Powell expected huh? Havent heard what fearless leader said he'd do yet. We'll see.

Your most effective approximately the fortieth man or woman to invite this query given that the day before today. A fast scroll by way of YA will have to yield you thousands of solutions. As for me, scrapping a "preserve" of doubtful capacity designed to manage a chance (Iran launching missiles at Poland) that's approximately as most probably as Santa Claus commencing up with an Uzi on the mall turns out like a legitimate navy and financial coverage.

Dconstruct your answer sounds great but your however overlooking the fact that they do not wish to "work together".

The US-Russia relations are damaged because we are not going to put up with BS.

You can tell the Americans who have travelled abroad, and not just to a pampered and prepared tourist spot. Other nations hate us. They dont hate us because of ANYTHING we have ever done personally, they hate us because they are "have nots". Its a very destructive attitude they carry.

Get your game face on, because as a soldier, I know better than to let my guard down and you dont negotiate terms without first having a leg to stand on.

I still dont know where Obama stands on foreign policy, but I did however know where Bush stood no matter how bad everyone wanted to demonize him

Edit: Dconstruct, yes I have been through Russia and I even worked with several tasks force in multi national efforts missions. They are pretty cool, but the one underlying issue your not addressing is the fact that communism works to destroy relations between us. You can clearly see this being distributed in the derogatory comments being made through the tabloids. Communism instructs you on how to think, and they do it by alienating someone else (such as US) into being the bad guy, then most citizens jump on board and there you have anti US feeling

I would engage with Russia 100%. I would attempt to bring Russia into NATO, or create a new Treaty Organization which included the US, Canada, the EU, Russia and Japan.

I would standardize weapons systems amongst all treaty states and would allow each country to manufacture their own customizations of those weapons systems for their own use.

I would unify the nuclear arsenals of the US and Russia and coordinate a unified intelligence gathering organization (like Interpol) amongst all member states.

I would establish a list of principles (political, moral) that each member state would agree to fight for should the need arise (and similarly, that each member state would agree to promote domestically), and I would demand non-intereference in member states' domestc affairs.

I would then proceed to scale down all military spending across the board and facilitate a general demilitarization of Africa, South America, Oceania and Australia.

I would focus the bulk of my efforts toward containing the chaos about to rip through Asia and the Indian sub-continent.

    EDIT:

Everyone wants to work together, whether they know it or not. Our interests as human beings are far more unified than they are divided. Elites in each "country" attempt to shore up differences to play on the fears of their respective populations because fearful people respond well to images of "big strong men who will protect them" (see: Bush, Putin).

That nonsense is part of the problem. Have you been to Russia? Do you know any Russians? I do. They are pretty cool and arent interested in fighting with us any more than we are interested in fighting with them.

I don't think Bush has placed the missile defense systems into Poland yet. They just recently got NATO approval to do so. The Russian threat is intended to stop Poland from accepting the system.

Notice they didn't try this B.S. with Bush, they knew better. Obama has to be firm and strong. We are the world's greatest nation and have to stand in that position. Once you back off from a bully you're done.

Keep the missiles. Never back down with Russia. Given an inch, and they take a mile.

it will be silly for obama to back down considering we have been a nation that accepts no bullshit for 8 years.

i do think he should make serious attempts to talk it out before going further. i do believe this is what he will do.

from there...all we can do is pray and back our nation.
