Put like arrows pointing into a direction and have a clue at each arrow. have it go to one of your favorite places like somewhere in the park or something.

have the arrows start in his car when he gets in, he'll see it and be very curious of whats waiting at the end.

at the end, you should stand there with a rose and/or sign asking him to the dance.

if you want to really embarass him, in a cute way of course, have members of some team he is on (like football or soccer) give him notes with clues or something. It'll be all suspenseful because all his friends will know what's going on and he still has to use the clues to figure it out.

Say something thats very cute. My girlfriend first asked me out (yes she did) by pretending to be shy, smiling, twisting her heels alot, thrusting her left sholder out and curling her hair with a finger. That made me thought she was very cute.
