What's the quality of PT1911 stock magazines?
My buddy just bought a Taurus PT1911 Government in Stainless today and I suggested he should consider get one or two high quality after market magazines. Such as a Mec-Gar, Kim-Pro, or the ubiquitous Wilson Combat.
Is that truly necessary? Does anybody have any experience with well used Taurus mags?
**Please, no mindless Taurus bashing. The quality of the pistol is well established, thank you. On the other hand, they HAD to cut costs somewhere to make such a feature-full gun for the low price, and magazines seems like the first place to cut corners.

Not necessary with Taurus. They factory mags are fine. They are the ones the guns is designed around.
I have worked on a number of these handguns and I can't find anywhere that Taurus cuts any corners or costs.
Makes you wonder why Kimber et. all. are so expensive. Could they be overpriced?

I've had no problems with Taurus magazines - not for their 1911s but others
some links below for sources - I did have problems with some ProMag magazines for S&W autos
