Why don't Obama's remarks draw criticism?
During the campaign he eluded to 'lipstick on a pig' - a clearly derogatory remark about Palin. And today he took a shot at Nancy Reagan about seances in the White House, which she never did. Where is the outrage?

First, the expression "putting lipstick on a pig" was around long before Palin burst onto the national scene. If you actually watch the video where Obama uses this expression (see link), you will see that he was talking about McCain's policies. He said that McCain claimed he was for change, but was promoting policies that were virtually indistinguishable from Bush's. He likened McCain's doing the same thing but calling it something different to "putting lipstick on a pig." He was not remotely talking about Palin. Such a reference to Palin doesn't even make sense in the context of what he was talking about.
As for Nancy Reagan, while it may be true that she did not conduct seances, she did consult a psychic on a number of occasions. This is not speculation but fact. There is no doubt that Obama should not have said what he said, and he called Nancy Reagan shortly thereafter to apologize. He was not "taking a shot" at Nancy Reagan, but if you want to get "outraged" by something like this, go right ahead.

Well hopefully his good deeds will over shadow his less than stellar remarks. No one is perfect and he has had to endure quite a bit of outright lies and attacks while campaigning. Perhaps he is venting a little bit now before he gets down to business. We should all cut him some slack. Actions speak louder than words!

Well first of all "lipstick on a pig" is an old saying so i don't know if he was being derogatory or if he was really just using an old metaphor.
Second, plenty of people have been getting pissed about things he has said, and just as plenty of people have gotten pissed about McCain said, and what previous presidents have said and done.
I mean obviously if you heard about it somewhere, someone is getting pissed, right?

Personally, not to be mean or rude or cruel or negative in any way, i think that people are afraid of saying anything to Obama b/c they are afraid of being called racists. it's happened before, and no one, unless they really are, wants to be called that!
