Crainialsacral therapy would be helpful however, there is a much more direct route of being pain free if you release the Pterigyoid Lateral muscles on each side of the mandible from the inside by someone who is trained to do so. There are 12 painfull areas around the cervical and medialsteium area that are indicitive of TMJ dysfunction. A bite plate while sleeping.

TMJ is usually caused by problems elsewhere in the body like a misalignment or scoliosis, neck problem or even feet. I saw a podiatrist once who said he cured tmj by giving foot inserts to correct the posture.
If you are waking up with jaw pain you are also most likely clenching your teeth. A night guard from the dentist can help and stops the pain but not the clenching. It is usually caused by stress, poor diet and other things

Some physical therapists are trained in tmj rehabilitation.
You should call some clinics and see if there is one around that can help you. If not, you can email me and I can see if I can dig out a few things from my old notes.

Craniosacral Therapy. You'll have to find someone in your area that practices CST and they can teach you some techniques to use at home inbetween sessions.
