if you get a tax cut(rich or poor), do you think it is "getting" something from the government?

Or isn't really just the government rightly letting you keep more of your money? The government doesn't have money of it's own, only what it takes from taxpayers.

You are correct it is your money not the goverenments.

Obama is planing to give tax cuts to people who pay no income tax. They will be getting money from the government that is not theirs. This is Welfare.

The government does have some money of it's own because it has banks and makes money by loaning money to other countries. But to be sure the lion share of revenues the government uses comes from taxes. So, it is allowing you to keep more of your money.

But the other miss this simple point. The services the government provides are provided because it is not economically feasible for private industry to provide it profitably. Services such as fire and police services cannot effectively ba handled by private industry because of it's sheer cost. Do you know what it costs to have three fire trucks respond to your home while it's burning down? Two engines plus a paramedic unit? The average person could never afford it. A private company would simply not respond if they knew you couldn't afford t he service. Police service is the same, as are many other services such as FEMA. These are standard of living services and you never really fully appreciate them until you need them.

Well but what about the roads, schools, fire, military, unemployment, bridges, police, jails.

What about the ppl who come to you on those roads, etc, for your business to make more money. A country is only as strong as the weakest link.

Somebody that does not have much may be using that road to give you more money or buy your product. The ppl make you more prosperous and the more prosperous you are then you should give back to the ppl.

I mean the day you can stop your house from burning and pay for the streets that the fire department comes down then you should take the stand that your money is yours.

Lyle: I know it is our money BUT we can't work and pay for the brideges ourselves. This is where the government comes in, takes a bid, for the lowest bidder then have them hire, you get paid, then you pay (taxes) the government for the roads.

No, that money belongs to me. The government takes it from me. So when I get a tax cut, i'm keeping more of MY money.

    WOW! Another superstitious primitive!

Hey, "just me," How do you think Government does ANY of those things? Magic faeries? They do it with YOUR money and they pay actual flesh and blood HUMANS to do the actual work.

You don't "need" government to do any of those things and NOT ONE started out as a government function. People today accept them as things "only government can do" because if anyone else does it they will be visited by government guys with guns.

TJ is wrong. My brother makes about 23,000 dollars. he receives money from the government. This money isn't welfare; it's the money that the government taxes from his checks. So he's just getting his money back
