Does anyone know of an OT prophecy that said [Jesus] was going to be king of Isaeral?

I know the OT did not say "Jesus" but this is supposed to be prophecy. I have found reference to this but can not find the specifics.

Can you help?

Thanks

Update:

l'chaim JPA - Where is this? Can you cite the passage?

Update 2:

semper_paratus_1776 - Thank you for answering the question.

Update 3:

Paperback Writer JPA KosherNinja - I didn't say I trust anyone. I simply thanked him for attempting to answer the question. He gave me references; that was what I asked for. Most other responders have not.

Update 4:

Thank you for your info too Paperback. Also thanks to Vöt Änårж.

Update 5:

Thanks plethora.

Update 6:

Paperback: I can appreciate your frustration. But in my question, I am trying to understand the Christian POV. I know yours is different, but to be honest, I do not have enough knowledge to evaluate the original Hebrew. Nonetheless, the question was about where THEY believe the verse is.

I never said I believed that they are correct. In fact, I’m an atheist and I’m often frustrated by how many assume otherwise just because I ask questions that are not insulting.

Just so you know, I almost never give thumbs down, and I gave you a thumbs up. Keep up the good work.

Jesus is not referenced in the Tanakh, the Hebrew scriptures. The OT is a Church-created, Church-edited, MIStranslated and wrongly organised version of the Tanakh.

Jesus was not a 'king' and there is no prophecy in any JEWISH text about him. And since Israel is the Jewish homeland, it is Jewish theology and scripture which counts. Not the OT with Jesus back-engineered INTO it.

    edit

So you trust a Christian to tell you about the JEWISH scriptures?

Yeah, 'cause that makes sense. NOT.

There are not 300 prophecies about anyone in the Tanakh. There are 23 authentic messianic prophecies. And nobody has fulfilled ANY of them.

    --------------------------------------------------------

    TO THE ASKER

Do you appreciate that your very question attempts to insert Jesus into JUDAISM?

He isn't there. How many Jews have to say this before we are believed? How many Jews have to answer before Christianity starts to RESPECT Jewish theology?

There are NO references to, or prophecies ABOUT Jesus in the Tanakh. The OT is the Christianised version OF the Tanakh. So why don't you ask about the ORIGINAL HEBREW SCRIPTURES?

I've given you the accurate answer. Yet I get thumbed down. That really says something about how little respect Jews get when we ANSWER ACCURATELY.

    ---------------------------------------

    - just to mention, even a good translation of the Tanakh will show that there is *no* reference to Jesus/Mohammed/Joseph Smith...

I appreciate your additional comments though, cheers :)

As Paperback & other Jews told you Jesus is NEVER mentioned in the Tanakah or any of our writings..The Christian version of what you call the OT has been mistranslated altered..There has never been a prophesy referring to him despite your thinking it to be...

When there's real peace on the entire earth & our 3rd temple rebuilt only then will that mean our Moshiach has arrived..He'll be human not divine..

ok there is a passage 2 Sam 7:13-16 that talks about the throne of david never ending. we could read this as a king will rule over israel from the line of David forever. this passage is why the liniage of Jesus is so important and dominates the birth accounts we have. at the end of David's life he is promised that his decendant (hence a possible heir to his earthly throne) whould be the messiah. 2 Samuel 7:12.

both Amos and Acts talk about the tabernacle of David being fallen, but not the throne. christians argue that the throne of David is continued through Jesus, who rules not only Israel but infinatly more than that. (Amos 9:11, Acts 15:16)

    hope some of that helps.

The messiah will be king of Israel, but his name is not Jesus and he will not be divine!

"A prophet never foretells 'a fixed, unchangeable future.' Prophets do not predict what will happen tomorrow. Instead, 'they announce a present that requires human choice and decision.' It is a present 'in which the future is being prepared' but whose outcome depends upon the work and decisions of human beings." Philosopher Martin Buber, quoted from "A Torah Commentary for our Times" by Harvey J. Fields

    Isaiah 61

    The Good News of Salvation

1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,

Because the LORD has anointed Me

    To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

    And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,

    And the day of vengeance of our God;

The Messiah is from the lineage of King David, heir to the throne of Israel. Jesus, the Messiah, is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He is going to rule the world, not just Israel.

    To start check Isaiah 9:7

Of the increase of His government and peace

    There will beno end,

Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,

To order it and establish it with judgment and justice

From that time forward, even forever.

The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

There are plenty of them in the Bible, but they are all incompatible with current Christian dogmas of going to Heaven to be with Jesus for eternity..any reference of a kingship over Israel is unthinkable.. . In fact some preachers say that Jesus will commute back and forth to spend some time in Israel.. You just opened a can full of worms... espiritually speaking, of course...

This is found in the second book of Samuel, 7th Chapter:

12 When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with the rod of men, with floggings inflicted by men. 15 But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16 Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me [b] ; your throne will be established forever.' "

Other OT prophecies about Jesus are found here (over 300 prophecies have been fulfilled by Jesus):

EDIT: Another is found in Psalm 110

1 The LORD says to my Lord:

    "Sit at my right hand

    until I make your enemies

    a footstool for your feet."
