Of the people who claim to have witnessed the Resurrected Jesus, from whom do we have their writings?
I am aware of Paul, Luke, John, and Peter. Are there any I am missing (not counting Apocrypha)?
Thanks in advance
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhy is what the IRS did wrong?
Sincere question here... I am not trying to make a statement and I fully admit ignorance.
Before this IRS/TEA party issue came out, I would have thought the IRS would have been OBLIGATED to seek out political groups that they thought would be likely to evade taxes. I do understand that people from the left and right are saying that what they did was wrong. But I do not understand why this is so.
Thanks in advance.
8 AnswersGovernment8 years agoSpanish help please...?
I'm having trouble finding this one:
What is "hang-gliding" and "hang-glider" in Spanish?
I think the Portuguese is "Asa delta" but I'm not sure about that either.
Thanks in advance.
3 AnswersLanguages9 years agoDoes the Bible contradict itself about blasphemy being the only unforgivable sin?
If you believe that non-believers such as atheists will go to Hell, because they are not convinced of the existence of God, then that appears to be an unforgivable sin.
Unless of course you think non-believers will be shown good evidence after they die and be given the chance to repent (then that is another matter).
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow responsible (if at all) are those who use fear and anger based political tactics?
Having a disagreement about issues is a good thing, a necessary thing. But the disturbing trend we have seen from the political right over these last few years has often been to spread fear and misinformation while playing on people's anger for political gain.
Of course I'm not saying that political rhetoric is responsible for every action of every nutcase out there. But there comes a point where people need to start to be responsible and try to have adult conversations about the issues.
I don't care about your political persuasion or lack thereof. But are there any conservatives who are willing to admit culpability for the trends we see?
4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDo you think many of the deniers on here are just trying to be smart-a$$es?
I just read an article about a guy who spent 4 months on Yahoo Answers just to give "snarky" answers. After reviewing some on the Q&A's by many of the so called global warming "skeptics" (better termed deniers), and directly asking them questions (which they almost never answer), I'm starting to think that many of these people are just pulling our legs.
Responders such as "Richie" and "New Deal Democrat" just can't be as nuts as they pretend to be, can they?
I think they are just some of the same people with several accounts who just post random carp (not the fish, but a similar spelling) just to get at people. What do you think?
13 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoWhat is the SCIENTIFIC consensus on AGW?
I know this is similar to a recent question. But that person was asking about the popular consensus. As a botanist, I do understand the power of the scientific consensus. I do not have time to fully understand the scientific arguments (that would seem to at least require a bachelors degree in that area). And from what I have seen on this Q&A forum, most of the people here do not either (there minds were made up long ago).
So please, no views of conservative think-tanks or left-wing conspiracy nuts, no personal attacks, I would just like to know the scientific consensus. You may complain that the consensus will not give you "cutting-edge" science, but I would say to you that the vast majority of beliefs not in line with consensus have usually been wrong (and there is a reason for it).
Thanks for your help.
12 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoJust a curiosity poll: If you believe AGW is a hoax...?
Do you also believe:
1. Sept. 11 was a hoax (orchestrated by the Government, or something like that)?
2. Evolution by means of natural selection is bad science, or a hoax or something like that?
3. That the world will end in 2012 (or something really bad will happen then)?
4. That the holocaust (during WWII) was a hoax (or not as many people died as the traditional history holds, or something similar)?
[No right or wrong answers, I'm just curious as to what people think - Thanks for your input].

Either a link, or your own stories would be appreciated. Thank you.
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAttention scientists and science minded folks - what books would you consider "essential reading?"?
I mean the books you would be shocked if your scientist friends had never read them.
Just name 1 to 10 books of what you consider the "must reads" for ones lifetime. They may be in or out of your field or books for generalists.
Thanks a bunch.
2 AnswersOther - Science1 decade agoWhich authors of the New Testament are said to have been martyred?
And (if you know) how good is the evidence for their martyrdom (what is the source of the information)?
Thanks for your help.
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoOf the contributors to the New Testament, which authors knew Jesus?
E.g. Not Paul (he only saw him in a vision that probably only lasted a matter of seconds), and not Luke (he tells us in the opening of his book that he was not one of the people that knew Jesus).
Thanks for your help

28 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes God recommend a procedure that will cause an abortion in Numbers 5:27-28?
This is from the KJV"
5:27 And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. "Her belly shall swell, and HER THIGH SHALL ROT." (Or "she will have barrenness and miscarrying womb" according to the NIV.
5:28 And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.
That sounds like God is prescribing a test (potion) that he knows will cause an abortion in some cases. What do you think?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan someone please explain to me what the Gazans and Hamas were thinking?
READ THIS CAREFULLY: I am not pretending to be knowledgeable about this issue.
But could anyone please explain to me how in the world Arabs could even pretend to be outraged about Israel attacking Hamas and Gaza after they launched rockets at Israel for a week? What on earth did they think Israel would do, just stand by and watch the fireworks display?
I am not the kind of person who thinks Israel is always blameless (they have done their share of wrongdoing). But I can not see how Hamas breaking the cease-fire was anything but their own fault. Even the Palestinian President has said this is the fault of Hamas.
Are they just trying to get sympathy from other Arabs? What could they be thinking? Could anyone explain this to me?
Please, no nonsense about how Israel controls Gaza (they left years ago) or how they shouldn't retaliate with such force (that would be like saying the man that you tried to kill with a baseball bat was too brutal because he shot you after you took a few swings at him).
Intelligent thought please.
Thanks
11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDoes anyone know of an OT prophecy that said [Jesus] was going to be king of Isaeral?
I know the OT did not say "Jesus" but this is supposed to be prophecy. I have found reference to this but can not find the specifics.
Can you help?
Thanks
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow do I get my roommate to help clean the house?
OK, I'm ashamed to admit it... she has been here a year and hasn't cleaned ONCE.
I've approached her in a friendly manner about this a few times and she always says something like "I know, I'm just so busy. I should help you clean."
But then after that, she doesn't lift a finger.
How can I approach her about this after having failed so many times?
