How responsible (if at all) are those who use fear and anger based political tactics?

Having a disagreement about issues is a good thing, a necessary thing. But the disturbing trend we have seen from the political right over these last few years has often been to spread fear and misinformation while playing on people's anger for political gain.

Of course I'm not saying that political rhetoric is responsible for every action of every nutcase out there. But there comes a point where people need to start to be responsible and try to have adult conversations about the issues.

I don't care about your political persuasion or lack thereof. But are there any conservatives who are willing to admit culpability for the trends we see?

Update:

Julia, that's good that you bring that up. I think we will both agree that there are nutcases on every side. But I just don't see the left using the tactics the far right seems to be going for (just look at the two posts below yours - the first for an example, the second as an illustration of the effect).

The Cantor seems to be an outlier to the trend.

Notice how out of three responders no one could accept any culpability?

Eric Cantor. Look him up and see what the media doesn't report.

It seems that if you debate a social agenda, suddenly you are a fear monger. Well, if that's all you can come up with, then I'll own it but let me tell you something.....there are many reasons to be afraid right now. Afraid for our country, afraid for our freedom and afraid for our children.

It's an incredibly worrisome time for Americans right now.
