How could reincarnation exist?

If reincarnation were to exist, what would happen if all life on earth were destroyed because of an asteroid impact or strangelet matter? Then what would people reincarnate as?

Those who believe in this please try to answer this intelligently.

Update:

Or suppose the earth was thrown off of it's revolving axis and lunged too close to the sun...

All of these have a possibility of happening.

deep. you ask that question as if time were relevent, though.

time doesnt truly exist. its a figment of our imagination, a measurement we humans created for some order.

"have no fear for atomic energy, none of them can stop the time" (yes, i just quoted bob marley lol)

so whatever happens, we might reincarnate ourselves back into a differently evolved earth. maybe in new forms of life. maybe into another dimension..

The main religions teaching reincarnation today are buddhism and hinduism.

In buddhism, it's said that there are about 32 different realms of existence. The realm of humans and animals are only 2 realms. If every single thing dies, they can be reborn in a lower realm (like hell) or a higher realm (like one of the many heavens).

Buddhism also says the universe creates, destroys, and re-creates itself. So there might have been many previous planets like earth and and many more in the future. This was said half a millenia before christians were saying the earth is just a few thousand years old.

Buddhist texts say the likelihood of being reborn a human are like throwing a small round object into the ocean and having a turtle pop its head through it.

I do not believe in reincarnation, but I can offer an intelligent answer to this.

It is extremely unlikely that this planet is the only one in the entire universe with life on it. Presumably if this planet were destroyed, souls or spirits or whatever of this planet's dead would be reincarnated on other planets.

Technically, if you accept that reincarnation can see you reborn as a different species, you might be reincarnated as amoebic dysentery. Who'd count the increase?

Oh I don't believe the above of course, just pointing out how it could be explained.

We may be reincarnated as life on another planet, or we may have to wait until another planet comes along. I don't believe strictly in reincarnation, but I believe that as long as there is life somewhere, we will be there to inhabit it.

The soul is not humanity-specific. Planets die for many reasons... but there are plenty of planets left... and more being made.

And yes, I do believe in reincarnation. It makes sense on many levels.

We are all starstuff. There are infinite worlds that support life or will support life in the future. New worlds are being born all the time. Our existences are not limited to Earth.

Well there are a few options other planets, other planes or diminsions. It may seem silly to some but honestly the idea of enternal happyness or hellfire seems silly to me

    It doesn't exist. Hebrews 9:27

As aliens. I mean, if Earth is no longer a viable venue, then obviously it will have to be another planet.
