Juncus spiralis is actually Juncus effusus 'Spiralis' so any information you locate on the web about Juncus effusus will apply.

Juncus effusus is found in almost the entire US and Canada, including alaska. It is an outdoor plant, and would need very high light and a dormant period if you grew it indoors

It needs direct sun, fine textured soil (such as in a sandy stream bank) and likes it roots wet, but the rush (green part) is above water.

    from the website below:

    • Soil should be kept saturated after planting. Plants can tolerate 2.5 - 8 cm of standing water as long as the level fluctuates over the growing season. Allow roots to become established before flooding soils if possible.

    • Ideally, plants should be planted in late fall just after the first rains (usually late October to November). Survival is highest when plants are dormant and soils are moist.

Yeah, it does alright. You don't have to keep it sopping wet, but you do have to keep it moist at all times. Bright indirect light probably best. Since it's a zone 10 plant, it hates cold drafts but still needs a room where the temp drops a bit at night. Since you have lots of plants, you probably already knew that.

They HATE salts in the soil, so take it to the sink and really drench it every so often to wash out excess salts. If you repot, use a humus rich potting soil, one with plenty of sphagnum peat if you can find it. A bit more tempermental to house culture since it doesn't have the multigenerational experience so many typical houseplants have. No time to cull out the under performers or develop stronger lines.

Keep its feet wet "bog" plant. Mine is outside in the ground, zone 8. If you see roots coming out of the drain holes, repot. If not, leave it as it is. Here's more. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=juncus+spirales+c...
