I will commemorate the armistice of World War I (Armistice Day). I will give my gratitude to veterans and remember those who have been killed or wounded in military service.
But I will also recognize that war is a terrible thing, that not every soldier is a saint, and that the military can and has been used for bad as well as good. It is my belief that I can honor veterans for their bravery and courage without pretending that the U.S. military was "defending my freedom" while conquering Mexico, slaughtering millions in the Philippines and Vietnam, or carrying out the illegal invasion of Iraq.

Absolutely. We plan to attend a veteran's event in our city and thank them all for their courage.
