History book suggestion?
I'm looking for a book that (ideally) gives a quick synopsis of all the major events in human history starting from about 1000BC up to modern day. I know this book would be enormous so do you have any other suggestions. I want to have a general idea of what has happened in history before filling in the detail.

Check out National Geographic web site, they have a great book with beautiful photography and easy to read time lines from the era you are looking for up to the present time. Maybe you can purchase one used from Barnes and Nobel?? Buying new is pricey, i think about 60 bucks.
