Who else is outraged that ABC moved the NASCAR race to ESPN2 to show America's Funniest Home Videos?

Luckily I'm on DirecTV but what about people without cable?

Update:

To the flamers- I actually watch most of the race on DirecTV Hot Pass because I prefer their coverage. I was just wondering about some of the people who don't have cable or satellite. I realize there's more to life than NASCAR but it is the next to the last race and people expected to see all the chase races on their local ABC station. I didn't expect NASCAR haters to answer. BTW, I'm not the one who thumbed down everybody. I did thumb down a couple. You know who you are.

Update 2:

I definitely agree with Andrea that there's no way they would have cut off a football game that ran long to return regular programming.

Tina-I'm with you. I wish FOX would cough up the money and broadcast the whole season. ESPN is whining about low ratings this year. Duh!

1skelkie-your answer made me lol on a day when I really needed it.

Update 3:

I'm sorry you guys who recorded the race didn't get to see the end. I knew that was gonna happen. My dad was talking about the Heidi incident last night. The networks have never cut football short again after the backlash they got. I think it's time for NASCAR fans to rise up. Why would ESPN/ABC waste the money on NASCAR if it's not a priority? Please step up FOX. We need you!!

    Rrrrghhh!

I don't have cable. I had to make a mad dash for the computer and check out the leaderboard on Yahoo Sports.

This is a championship playoff...and ABC thinks an episode of a show featuring "Itchy Animal Butts" is more important?

    Argh!

Since I live on the east coast I was pretty outraged. Eventhough I have cable they should've not done that. This was an important race and they cut it off after the final 30 laps. Are you freaking kidding me? ABC sucks and they lost my respect after what they did. Wow they had to air AFV so desperately!. Screw ABC. They should air the entire NASCAR season on FOX. They're gonna get a lot of critism for what they did. I hope they do.

I am part of the "BURN IN HELL, ABC!" crowd. For the first time in a while I was not able to watch the race today, so I set the DVR to record it. Then, just now, I start skimming through the race only to find out the most important part was CUT BY A BUNCH OF F**KING MORONS!!! I could understand if it was something important, but for a show about AMERICA'S STUPIDEST HUMAN BEINGS is absolutely inexcuseable. How many times has a football or baseball game f**ked-up regular programming??? But because it is our "redneck" sport it gets bumped for the dumbest show on television. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE FOR THIS!!!

Pffft. That's nothing. I live in St. Louis and when the Cardinals won the world series a few years ago they had a parade downtown to celebrate and FOX, ABC and NBC had this stupid parade on plowing right over Nascar. During the middle, NBC cut there coverage to air the NFL Rams game. Ofcourse. When the parade crap was over they went to Nascar literally just in time to see the checkered flag! I left so many nasty messages to my local FOX station I hope they never forget. I know I won't. Bastards.

Actually at my place we are already watching football anyway, we channel hopped back to the race to see the boring Jimmie Johnson as usual finish.. The three people in the den who wanted to watch the race were in the den, and yep No beer, they all fell to sleep before the race was over...Geez will anyone else challenge this guy..Why are Jimmie Johnson wins so boring, Hopefully he can actually race someone to a close finish in homestead if not I thank god for NFL.

I didn't mind changing the channel, but I thought it was dumb that America's funniest home videos was more important to ABC than the next to last NASCAR race, but oh well. Guess that shows the current state of NASCAR.

This is the second time they have done it to me.

1st time was two years ago when the Tigers made it to the world series. kill me now, i dont care about them, lol,

2nd time this time. Its ridiculous. They wouldnt cut off football if it ran over. It makes me soo mad. ABC shouldnt be allowed to broadcast races.

As for people without more than basic cable, are going to have to find a radio station to listen to it from, go online, or wait till next week to figure it out.

ABC and ESPN are freaking Jokes.

Why cut the race short when these are the championship races? Those guys are freakin morons.

15 laps to go and they can't even show the end of the race. ABC and ESPN is a disgrace to the sport. They are a disgrace to TV. Poor poor coverage from idiots that have no clue as to what is going on and then they cut the race short. Good freakin grief.

They should have given enough warning that I could have contacted Dish Network and told them I wanted to upgrade my sattelite service to get ESPN just so I could watch the last 15 laps of the race.

Yeah, I'm disgusted with ABC and NASCAR!

I've already written to both of them to complain.

I'm in the process of writing to all the sponsors of the race to complain too.

I was one of the unlucky ones that were taping it on ABC to watch later that night.

  • i'm lucky to have Dish Network right now, after Jerry Punch warned us that the race was moving to ESPN2 on the East Coast, i switch to 144 and then back for a moment then when they left ABC (which is Ch 8 in the DFW area) i hit the recall button on my remote and stayed with the race, if it goes past 7 PM, f*** it, watching Simpsons.
