Why is it that anyone that voted for Obama is a Communist?
I have seen on YA here more crying and whining from those that voted for McCain then anything. It is ok to disagree with Obama on his policies. It is ok to have aggressive debates on policies here. To name call is silly however. Half of the people here probably have no idea what a Communist or a Socialist is.
I am an independent. It doesn't matter who is in office as long as they do a good job. I think that those that voted for McCain haven't even let a week go by without criticizing Obama. HE ISN'T EVEN THE PRESIDENT YET!
The US let Bush and the Republicans do whatever they wanted. Now give this new guy a chance. I can promise that I will criticize him as ardently as I have Bush if need be. Until then, let Obama have his chance.
To those Obama supporters that are gloating, don't. Obama could really screw things up as badly as Bush did. I hope he doesn't, but I am still very cynical.
To Sahara - I beg to differ. Being a cynic is absolutely helpful. It allows me not to be blind. It allows me to criticize and be a critical thinker. It keeps me from being part of the sheeple masses. It keeps me from allowing myself to be swooned by a silver tongue and follow blindly to my own demise.
I do support Obama, but I will not blindly follow him. My support, and my vote is fickle. The sooner our political leaders see that, the sooner more people in the nation are cynical and question the motives and actions of our political leaders, the sooner they will take our votes and our countries much more seriously.

Anyone can be a cynic. That's why it is bad. It's very easy to fall into that and it's not helpful. I think it protects us because we don't get our hopes up and have to deal with disappointment. There are risks in life. "Victory is an elusive whore. It's as easily mine as it yours." This is from Tori Amos' song Code Red. Pragmatic republicans are supporting Obama because if he is successful then America will be successful. That is the idea.
Some Republicans are stubborn. It's their way or no way. They use fear tactics. "Hold onto your money." Are they wrong? No because it has happened in the past. I am in Massachusetts where Dukakis had a policy called retroactive taxes. It seemed to do well for the state but it had a steep cost to the people. Since I was in school when he was in power, it seemed to do well because we didn't have budget cuts that did occur in the early 90s. Once programs are cut, it's very hard to get them back.
Obama has a much better chance because of his intellect and stability. He's cool, calm, and collected. He is not going to rush into things just because. Right away the risk of failure is reduced because of preparation and careful thought. He is very liberal so he works for the common good. I believe that to be true. He is also pragmatic and wants to succeed. I don't think he comes across as someone who thinks he is better than everyone else. He seems pretty grounded to me considering what he has been able to achieve. He has done the work. He has lived the struggle. McCain really hasn't because of his family background. McCain could not fail. Obama could have but rose above. There is something to be said of that, I think.
I think some Republicans are negative and filled with hate. They are not helping. Why do insults need to be added? It does not fill the purpose. It may occur due to frustration. I would blow them off.
I have been having a lively discussion with some Republican friends of mine. We don't insult each other. We respectfully disagree, passionately so. They do not see my side or at least I don't see that they do. I do see their side because I used to believe in it. I don't anymore. However, I too am a pragmatist.
I am full of hope about what Obama could do. I support him. I am so thankful to have Dennis Kucinich back in the House of Representatives because Dennis will speak the truth. He will hold Obama and his administration to task. Count on it.

I have not once referred to anyone that voted for obama as a communist, nor will I begin to. I may question their intelligence, but I have the right to do that. Looking at it from a slightly different viewpooint, however, I can understand a lot more why people did vote for him. If the american public had not been so stupid as to re-elect bush 4 years ago, obamalama would not have won, plain and simple. As it was, people were so tired of bush, they'd have voted for almost anybody. I did four years ago, (and 8 years ago, for that matter). this time I thought the reps had a better candidate. Time will tell.

I don't think Obama or his supporters are devout socialists and definitely not communists. However, many of Obama's proposed policies have their root in socialist principle. Therefore it is acceptable to discuss it on that basis. I agree with you that people go overboard, but this is just in relation to fear of what could occur. I like you will give him the benefit of the doubt, but I must say that some things he has proposed even since winning the election do nothing but add fuel to the fire. Especially this forced community service plan he is proposing. This goes well beyond socialist principle and definitely into the realm of communistic thinking. Just remember that it is Obama who must prove his detractors wrong with his actions.

They're very simplistic thinkers. Simple thoughts for simple minds, you know!
