Why did my flash drive stop working?
I recently installed Adobe Photoshop CS4 on my computer. The next day when I tried to upload photos from my Sandisk Flash Drive, I got a message saying device not recognised. I thought this was odd as I had used it a few hours ago on another computer and it was fine, and the day before I installed Photoshop it had been working fine on MY computer as well. So I tried to connect my camera to the computer via USB, but got the same result. Thinking I had now pinned down the problem, I tried my mother's USB, it's also a Sandisk flash drive, not only that but they have the same amount of memory on them too, 2GB. However, I couldn't get hers to run either. So now I know that Photoshop has stuffed my drivers. Problem is, how do I fix it?
To all those who think it could not be Photoshop causing the problem...Here are some reasons why it probably is...
1. Adobe is eeeebbbiillll!
2. CS4 is not allowed to be installed on a USB device.
3. Maxis stopped The Sims 2 running if you had burning software enabled.
4. CS4 is still young.
5. It's the only thing that's changed since the last time I was on the computer. And mine is the only one with the problem.
Both computers have everything EXACTLY the same, except one is a laptop. But we have another desktop and another laptop that work fine with my USB.

if u think it's CS4 then get CS3 instead. i doubt it has anything to do with photoshop cos it's unlikely that program would do something like that. usually it's either the computer drive reader or your flash memory itself. but who knows... u could be right. CS4 is still new. if your flash memory is corrupted, then u should get a memory recovery program (cant remember the name but i'll repost it when i have it). it will only recover about 50-80% of your files but at least it's better than nothing.
The recovery program is called Badcopy Pro.
another reason for your problem could the compatibility with your windows. sometimes vista is not great with newer program and newer programs r not great with older windows

Connect the flash card, then shut down the computer, then remove the flash drive. Boot the computer then insert the flash drive. Some times windows does not close the flash drive, leaving it in an open state and it can't be recognized. I have come across this problem twice. Does both computers have the same Windows operating system?

update your divers on your computer
Or
reformat the USB sticks ...you will lose everthing on them but they should work again
right click and click Format chose FAT32 and hit start...that should fix them if that's whats not working
