They have not announced a date and currently don't own any aircraft that are suitable for transatlantic service. They've merely said that they are considering the idea and that it is probably "a few years off". They have said that they want to use 787's and the first 787 won't be delivered until at least 2009 - assuming that Boeing doesn't fall any further behind schedule than they already have.

Right now Ryan Air's 737 cannot make it across the Pond unless the airline removes some seats. Also they would have to have aircraft that are ETOPS certified to fly across large bodies of water. If Ryan Air sees a market for them to fly international, I would not be surprised if they open up a few routes.

Ryanair said themselves it was a rumour. They haven't announced anything but have said they will look into buying aircraft from troubled airlines soon.
