Why is it that people aren't willing to question the media?

Simple question--kinda. I guess I would also like to know why people aren't willing to entertain a broader range of possibilities before coming to their conclusions; rather, they kinda "shut it off" at the possibility that is easiest to accept. Why, why, why?

Yeah, I know this could go a lot of places. I'm open to that.

I think the quick answer to your question is that people are looking for the fast, cookie-cutter answers that fit their perspective. We do this in our politics and in our religious beliefs. So it fits that the media provides the answers the publics wants to hear instead of going deeper and looking for truth and accuracy.
