Can you freeze sour cream?
Whenever I buy sour cream it's for taco night and there is usually 3/4 of the container left. I am trying to limit the amount of food we waste. Can sour cream be stored in the freezer to use later? If so, how long?

You can freeze it if you plan to use it in cooking or baking, but it is not recommended if you plan to use it as a dip or on your baked potato. Sour cream separates when frozen and takes on the consistency of cottage cheese. It’s fine to use, but won’t have the texture you would expect.

It will separate once it is thawed. It is still good for awhile after the expiration gate, though.
When I buy sour cream or other special items, I like to plan meals that will use the same ingredient.

sour cream does not hold up very well if frozen but you can use it in other meals. if you make stew or gravy stir in a dollop for added richness. It is great in most casseroles or in mashed potato's or make it into chip dip.
