So how much attention will be paid to this?

I can't believe there isn't more of a backlash about this story. MSNBC now admits that the story about Palin not knowing Africa was a continent was a fraud perpetrated by a filmaker.

Why is there no backlash against the media for running with "fake" news and not properly checking their sources? How much else do they report that is a fake?

Update:

Yes, I read the article. Yes, I read how they said that, even though part of the story is now shown to be false, they stand by the rest of the story.

That is part of my point... how can you say that, even though part of it is proven to be a hoax, you can still stand by the rest? That is incredibly irresponsible.

Dan Rather went through this and it ultimately cost him his career and the reputation of his network.

It doesn't really matter. They can say anything they want to do the job of ensuring their boy gets to the White House. They can blast their smears in the headlines and then print a little retraction. Job well done. Damage done. The sheeple don't want to know the truth. You are talking about a population that gets its news from Jay Leno and SNL. It's great fodder for them.

We don't have a free unbiased media. It is just a propaganda outlet for the left wing agenda.

That's why I am forced to watch Fox News.

You need to read better. What MSNBC admitted was the source they named for the story, after the story came out on Fox, was a fraud. The story itself still stands, it is just that the source is till unnamed.

Edit: You can't understand why the rest of the story isn't being retracted? There is no reason to retract it, that's why. The two things are unrelated. The story came out (On Fox, not MSNBC), then later MSNBC ran a story naming this fake person as the source. That doesn't mean the original story is false, just that the party named as the source is false. This isn't actually hard to understand.

BTW, I'm glad you brought up Dan Rather. He had a similar situation, where most of his story, including the important part, was correct, but one part, which didn't affect the rest, wasn't. Because of that, the whole story was considered wrong, and it cost him his career.

Even if there's a backlash, who's going to report it…MSNBC? Was there much backlash after the fake documents CBS used to defame Bush in 2004?

Anything negative against republicans is fine. Did you ever notice sometimes when a Democrat commits a crime, does something wrong that the D is not placed next to his name? This will get next to no attention. The problem is stupid America already believes it. That guy should be fired.

Hmmm, imagine the media running fake stories. Next you'll be telling me there weren't any WMD's in Iraq when we invaded.

It's a damn shame about that 'liberal' media now, isn't it?

I'm curious. Just who is going to report on the media's shortcomings?

    The media?

The damage to their brand is already substantial for jumping the shark this election cycle.

Next to none. The media has been so blinded by Obama that they don't really care about Palin or the truth.

That article never says that Palin DOES know Africa is a continent. So the story might still be true.
