2000 GMC Sierra Oil Capacity and reset warning light?
I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 4.8L V8 and I purchased it used without an owners manual. I have not bought a maintenance manual yet. Can someone tell me the oil capacity for the 4.8L V8 Vortec and how to reset the "Change Engine Oil" warning light. Thank you in advance for your help

my 01 silverado 4.8 takes 6 quarts with a filter change and to reset you turn on the key and pump the gas pedal 5 times within a few seconds before you start the engine the light will flash a few times then it should be reset till the next time hopes this helps you out

Holds 5 quarts.
If you disconnect the battery cables it should reset the check engine light, but you will have to reset your clock and
preset radio stations.

i own a repair shop, and if its not a by pass hose that's back there,or a heater hose you have a blown intake gasket on it,i get a lot of the 4.3 engines in the shop that have blown gaskets, but its no big deal to replace, but make sure its not a head gasket,i have seen those blow a head gasket ,and they way it would run down it would make you think that it was the intake, either way the intake is going to get replaced on it,but they can fool you sometimes, good luck with it,i hope this helps.
