How can I convince my father to quit smoking?

My father is a long time smoker, and over the years we have mostly relied on just trying to convince him that we want him to quit. But now he's getting older, and every time I see him light up, I feel like that is one less day I will have him around, and one less day he will be able to spend with the kids that I hope to have.

I thought he would quit when his parents died due to cancers caused by smoking, but that didn't do it. He just talks about wanting to, but never actually tries.

Any suggestions?

Your father has to WANT to quit. I'm sure he knows it's gonna kill him, but there's really not much you can do. Just pray that the cancer sticks will start tasting crappy to him, and he'll REALLY want to quit.

You know he could quit cold turkey. I see it every day. A man finds out he has lung cancer or heart disease, so he quits right then and there. Or a woman finds out she's pregnant, so she quits.

I don't think there's much you can do. I'm sure you've done it all. Maybe have a sit down quiet conversation, and pour your heart out. Tell him how it's gonna shorten his life, and when he gets sick, it won't be fun. Tell him it's just an ugly, filthy, expensive, dangerous, stupid habit, and that it bothers you every day. Tell him to just throw out his cigs (wet them first!) and just stop. In 6 months his lungs will be pink again, and he'll feel so much better. Tell him you would be so proud to hear him say, "I don't smoke." Their nothing but a crutch that he doesn't need. After 2 weeks he wouldn't even miss him them any more.

I hope he has a life. A job, wife or girlfriend, a hobby or something. Because of smoking is all he does all day, I don't see him quitting. He needs a reason to quit. Hopefully, you're it.

Bless you, and I wish you the best of luck. :)

I know how it feels buddy. Same was the scenerio at my house 2 months back, my father was a chain smoker and used to smoke 20-25 a day. Then I bought a guide which helped my dad drastically and helped him to quit smoking smoking without the help of medicines.

You can also try this guide..here is the link

hmm well you can just tell him how greatly it upsets you because you truly care about him and need him to be around for you. There also is a laser suregeory that helps people quit smoking it only costs 150-250 and my cousin and aunt got it and neither have smoked for months.
