What is making my Dog limp?
My husband and I were at work all day and when he came home and let the dog in. He noticed that not only was she limping, but hoping. When I got home I looked at her paw to see if maybe she had a splinter. I didn't see anything but after spending the night and day today in the kennel, she is still hoping and not really putting weight on it. I have an appointment with the vet but I don't want to take the time off work if I can avoid it.
ok she is a rott/lab cross. she was outside while we were at work. There isn't anything that could fall on her. The only thing is that she could have stepped on something or sprained it.
Also I'm not saying my job is more important but if it is something serious, how am I supposed to pay the vet bill if I don't go to work to make the money to pay it? I don't think I'm being irrational here.

was anything in your home out of place or knocked over? maybe he fell or something got knocked onto him and he sprained it. try pressing lightly on the paw in all areas to see if she jerks away like her paw is sore. my best judgement would just be to wrap it with an ace bandage (not too tight) like you would if you hurt your own ankle if she does act like it hurts. other than that, it could be something else wrong and it would be wise to see a vet

If you think that your dog is more important then your job you would stay home with her for however long even if you have to take time off work this dog is a living being and if my dog was sick I would stay home no matter how long, you should feel that way too. Is she allowed in the front yard because if she is she might have been run over, or if she was backyard is there anything back there that could fall over and fall on her leg? Rub around her leg check if the are any open wounds or broken bones. If all fails, TO THE VET!

If she wont use it at all, the vet should see it. She may have torn a cruciate ligament in her knee, dogs can do this pretty easily-especially big ones. Little ones can have problems with their kneecaps. Any dog can get hip problems. If she's tied out in the yard, I've seen dogs get wrapped up in their leash and break bones. She may have sprained something or fell off the couch.

Probably a ruptured cruciate ligament. You need to take her to the vet ASAP. She is obviously in pain.

the vet is your best shot... pets are same as kids... when theyre sick they need their doctor/vet . you wouldnt ignore a sick or injured kid would you????
